The Senior Grid System Design Engineer is the technical "Gatekeeper" for our BESS pipeline. This role carries dual responsibility: performing the advanced mathematical simulations required for TNB approval and acting as the primary technical auditor for BESS and PPC hardware suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

• BESS Dynamic Modeling: Develop site-specific BESS models including Inverters (PCS), Battery

• Harmonic & Power Quality Validation: Perform detailed harmonic resonance studies to identify if a supplier's inverter switching frequency will clash with the local TNB grid impedance.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems or Power Electronics focus).

Role Description

• Identify performance gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities using descriptive, predictive, and statistical analysis techniques, and translate findings into structured improvement projects.  

• Lead and manage a portfolio of cycle time improvement initiatives aligned with strategic priorities, working with cross-site and cross-functional teams to ensure execution and results. 

• Develop and deliver training sessions, workshops, and coaching to improve site level capability and maturity in cycle time management.  

• Partner with Site and Central Operations & Engineering teams (e.g., ATCSP, ATTP, PDE, TSE, NPM, NPO) to gather, analyze, and interpret cycle time and operational excellence data.  

• Build and sustain effective working relationships with internal customers by understanding business needs, managing expectations, and delivering consistent value.  

• Facilitate best known methods (BKM) sharing and lead to regular cycle time performance review meetings with key stakeholders. 

Requirements 

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering and related.

• At least 5 years of recent semiconductor experience with strong understanding of Backend (Assy, Test, Module/SSD) or Front-End manufacturing processes, including system and physical automation, equipment efficiency methodologies, NPI and HVM cycle time, capacity and labor planning, lean manufacturing, value stream mapping, and backend business processes and reporting structures. 

• Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Excel, with solid understanding of statistics to support business and operational decisions 

• Working knowledge of SQL or Python to analyze data, automate analysis, and support data-driven solutions will be an advantage. 

• Foundational understanding of AI and machine learning concepts, including AI agents, will be an advantage.

  Performs design and development engineering assignments related to activities for equipment and systems layouts in plant, office, and production facilities. • Responsible for developing the 3-year maintenance plan and consulted with the Maintenance Manager, Planner Maintenance and Supervisor Maintenance to get their input
• Responsible for identifying whether an asset requires preventive maintenance, based on risk assessments & asset criticality review, regulatory & statutory requirements, Vopak standards, maintenance policies and analysis of the maintenance history
• Responsible for determining and adjusting the required preventive maintenance for an asset: specifying what type of preventive maintenance must be performed on a regular basis, possible adjustments based on manufacturers’ instructions, legislation requirements, Vopak standard requirements and/or status of warranty
• Responsible for identifying with what frequency preventive maintenance work orders must be executed
• Responsible for establishing which default activities, standard procedures and required tools are needed as part of the preventive maintenance Work orders and consult with the Planner to get his input on the scope of work and default activities
