Job Description

We are seeking a full-time Research Assistant (Quantitative Analysis) to work on empirical research in the area of population aging, mortality, and pensions, with an active focus on Singapore and Asia. The project is part of a larger interdisciplinary research program aimed at developing a better understanding of how aging beliefs and mortality expectations may influence financial decision-making among participants in a pension scheme. The Principal Investigator of this project is Associate Professor Joelle Fong. 

The LKY School of Public Policy is part of the National University of Singapore, which is Asia’s top university in the QS World University Rankings.

Candidates should have a background in Statistics, Economics, or Risk Management & Insurance.  Knowledge of mortality analysis and life table methods is required. Candidates with also some knowledge and experience in how pension systems function will be a good fit. The successful candidate must demonstrate good overall competence in quantitative research methods and be proficient with statistical software such as STATA or R.  Due to the nature of the role, excellent written and spoken English is essential. 

Other responsibilities include:

• Assist with drafting literature review and questionnaire design
• Assist with data analysis in R and STATA (data collection / cleaning)
• Research administration support 
• Other ad-hoc duties as assigned

The full-time position will have a 12-month term.

6. Contact and schedule appointments for research subjects within the time frame required in the protocol.
7. Centrifuge blood specimens and send specimens to laboratory.
8. Tracing and returning of case notes, blood results and all other results required in the protocol.
9. Responsible for data collection and performing research procedures.
10. Maintain documentation of patient reimbursement logs, hardcopy and electronic case report forms.
11. Maintain source documentation for each patient accordance to protocol requirements.
12. Identify, document and submit protocol deviations to Institutional Review Board (IRB) according to hospital and sponsor procedures.
13. Inform PIs and collaborators on any adjustments based on protocol change.
14. Complete, report and follow up on unanticipated problems involving risk to subjects and adverse events and/or serious adverse events

Job Description

Role Overview

This Research Assistant Internship is designed for students seeking foundational exposure to preclinical research and laboratory animal science within a regulated research environment.

The Research Assistant will join a new project awarded by the Public Utilities Board (PUB) and Coastal Protection and Flood Resilience Institute Singapore (CFI) collecting data from the Johor Strait to better protect Singapore’s coastline amidst climate change. We are looking for a Research Assistant/Associate who will work primarily with Assistant Professor of Sociology Shannon Ang, School of Social Sciences, Nanyang Technological University. This position is especially suited for those looking to pursue graduate studies or oriented towards a future career in social research.

The Research Assistant/Associate will work on a project which seeks to understand patterns of social connectedness amongst future and current cohorts of older adults, by integrating data from various cohort studies. Other members of the interdisciplinary research team include co-investigators from the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and Duke-NUS Medical School.

In addition, the role includes supporting the work of the Centre for the Study of Social Inequality (CSSI). This includes (but is not limited to) helping organise events (i.e. seminars, workshops), external communications, and carrying out research-related tasks for CSSI’s projects.

The Research Assistant/Associate will receive valuable experience in working with large-scale survey data and data analysis. There will be opportunities to work on publications together, as well as to contribute to other exciting projects related to ageing, health and social inequality.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate research projects and ensure they run smoothly

• Engage in and facilitate the conduct of academic activities (e.g., organize workshops and conferences, prepare manuscripts/reports)

• Conduct statistical analyses (including data cleaning, data visualization) of survey data

• Organise and participate in academic activities (i.e. workshops and seminars)

• Communicate with local and international collaborators

• Perform other general research and administrative duties where required (e.g., IRB protocol, data requests)

Job Requirements

• Bachelor/Master Degree in Sociology, Psychology, Economics or related field

• A willingness to learn quantitative research methods

• Good English writing and communication skills - essential for data analysis and communication with stakeholders

• Experience in research in the field of older adult health, social inequality, and/or statistics is preferred, but is not necessary

• Experience in event and project management will be seen favorably

• Proficiency in a statistical package (e.g., Stata, R, or Python) preferred, but is not necessary

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Research Assistant to join a funded research project on AI safety and youth digital well-being in Singapore. The project focuses on designing empowerment-oriented tools that support healthier teen-mobile technology relationships without relying on surveillance, monitoring, or enforcement.
This role is ideal for someone interested in research and design at the intersection of technology, well-being, and youth. The successful candidate will contribute to a project that combines empirical research, co-design, community engagement, and the development of real-world systems.
Role responsibilities
•    Support and help lead studies with teens and relevant stakeholders in Singapore
•    Assist with or help organize co-design workshops and community engagement activities
•    Identify design and technical requirements for the project
•    Contribute to the design, development, and field deployment of a system
•    Support broader research activities, including data collection, synthesis, coordination, and documentation
Depending on the candidate’s experience and background, the role may involve different levels of responsibility in research design, project coordination, analysis, prototyping, and writing.
