Job Description

The National University of Singapore (NUS) invites applications for a Research Assistant position in Dr Mohammad ALFATAH’s lab, part of Healthy Longevity Translational Research Programme, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The lab is dedicated to understanding the biology of aging and identifying geroprotective interventions to promote healthy longevity. Appointments will be on a 1-year contract in the first instance, with the possibility of extension.

Purpose of the post

The Research Assistant (RA) will work closely with Principal Investigator (PI) to support ongoing research projects focused on chemical (e.g., drugs, natural products, metabolites) and genetic interventions for neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease. The role includes evaluating the efficacy of candidate interventions using cellular and disease models.

Main duties and responsibilities

1. Conduct cell culture, high-throughput chemical/genetic screening, and molecular biology experiments involving DNA, RNA, protein work, and multi-omics analyses.
2. Perform literature reviews, design experimental plans, and analyze data independently and reliably.
3. Manage general laboratory operations, including maintaining chemical and cell line inventories, tracking equipment, and supporting project-related administration.
4. Undertake any other related duties as assigned by the PI.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Biomedical Science, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline.
2. Prior laboratory experience, especially in cell culture and molecular biology techniques, is required.
3. Strong ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with a self-driven and proactive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
4. Experience in bioinformatics, particularly with Python or R programming, is a plus.

Overview

The Department of Pathology at the National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Fellow to join a multidisciplinary team studying haematolymphoid malignancies, with a focus on lymphoma. The lab integrates genomics, digital pathology and advanced spatial platforms to advance biomarker discovery and pre-clinical testing of novel therapeutic agents. We are looking for a highly motivated and passionate research engineer to work on a funded research project that investigates the development of personalized cooling systems leveraging thermoelectric cooling technology. SIA-NUS Digital Aviation Corp Lab at the National University of Singapore (NUS) leverages NUS’s world class deep technology and multi-disciplinary research expertise across Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Data Science, Operations Research and Analytics, Optimisation, Automation, Sleep Studies and Design.

The Corporate Lab aims to develop for Singapore Airlines a new approach to design optimal price tiers for air tickets and manage seat inventory, to help maximize revenues for airlines, leveraging on modern analytical tools and technologies that can perform deep data analytics in airline revenue management system. The current solution provided by its new commercial vendor is adequate but could not address specific issues faced by SIA, including the price elasticity estimation, dynamic pricing and competition considerations etc. These are all unique to SIA and customized solution methodology needs to be developed for these purposes. Expertise, infrastructure and relevant background work done at NUS’s Institute of Operations Research and Analytics (IORA), School of Business, School of Computing and Department of Industrial Systems Engineering & Management would be tapped on to add value to the proposed projects.

Job Description

The Research Fellow will be responsible to:

• Lead the design, development, and governance of project databases and data infrastructure, ensuring scalability, security, and reproducibility.

Be independent in research of advanced speech and audio algorithms and the development or implementation of such algorithms for embedded systems.

• Experience or knowledge of acoustic tests measurements for data acquisition and be familiar with state-of-the-art testing equipment.
• Experience of conducting objective/subjective evaluation of various audio algorithms on speech enhancement, active noise control, binaural rendering.
• Extensive experience in signal processing, acoustic modelling, adaptive filtering, noise suppression, active noise cancellation, hearing through etc.
• Ability handling C, Python, and script codes for system modelling, simulation and system implementation.

Qualifications Requirement:

• PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field with a focus on audio signal processing or speech processing.
• Extensive knowledge in at least one of the areas including: signal processing applied to audio, active noise control, speech enhancement, adaptive filtering and microphone array signal processing.
• Solid mathematical background.
• Working knowledge of C/C++ and/or Matlab/Python scripting as well as DSP algorithm optimizations
• Highly Desired:
• Expertise in AI applied to audio, with hands-on experience in at least one deep learning framework in Python
• Hands on experience in DSP code optimization and deployment for embedded audio systems
• Knowledge and expertise of earphone active noise cancellation/hear through algorithm design and tuning, measurements and etc.
• Top-ranking and/or award receivers in world competition in speech/audio signal processing field

Job Summary: We are looking for an Associate for one of our esteemed clients to manage youth research awards, coordinate student research and internship programmes, and support scholarship administration.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage youth research awards, including school nominations, submission validation, and participant tracking
• Handle payment processes and support award renewals, including academic reviews and interview coordination
• Coordinate research and internship programmes by matching students with projects and supporting onboarding and documentation
• Administer surveys, analyze feedback, and prepare reports and e-certificates
• Provide administrative and logistical support for events, visits, and programme activities
• Perform ad-hoc duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Diploma in Administration or any relevant discipline
• Minimum 2 years of administrative or clerical experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word)
