Singapore’s convective weather is highly complex and rapidly evolving, creating significant uncertainty in forecasting its frequency, severity, and spatial distribution. As a future-ready connectivity hub, this directly affects the efficiency, reliability, and safety of our aviation and maritime operations, leading to disruptions, increased costs, and heightened safety risks from severe weather such as heavy precipitation and lightning. To strengthen national capabilities, we are advancing AI-enabled localized tropical weather prediction under projects secured through the Aviation Meteorological Programme (AMP) and Weather Science Research Programme (WSRP).

We are seeking highly motivated Research Scientists and Engineers to advance our AI-enabled weather intelligence research. The role focuses on conducting cutting-edge, data-driven research on tropical convective hazard prediction using multi-modal datasets from weather observation systems and Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) models. Successful candidate will work with a team of data scientists and engineers to develop, implement, and evaluate advanced machine learning and deep learning models for multi-source, multi-scale weather forecasting, leveraging state-of-the-art AI techniques to improve the accuracy and spatio-temporal resolution of hazardous weather predictions such as heavy precipitation, strong winds, and lightning. Beyond methodological innovation, you will also play a key role in translating research breakthroughs into operationally deployable solutions, working in a multi-disciplinary team comprising atmospheric scientists and operational stakeholders.

This work directly contributes to delivering actionable hazard intelligence to support real-world applications, including safer and more efficient air and ground operations in tropical environments. You will join a high-impact team addressing key challenges at the intersection of AI and weather science.

Job Requirements

• Ph.D in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or a related discipline with rich AI experience

• Strong programming skills, with proficiency in Python and PyTorch, and experience in optimizing deep neural networks for large-scale, multi-GPU training.
• Experience in data analysis, cleaning, and visualization, particularly for real-world sensor data (e.g., radar, satellite, lightning, and weather station data).
• Expertise in deep learning, especially in spatio-temporal modelling, generative AI, physics-informed learning, and uncertainty modelling.

The Health Intervention and Policy Evaluation Research Centre (HIPER) (https://hiper.nus.edu.sg/) at the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH), NUS, is seeking to hire an individual with relevant skillset and experience to lead and support the work in the area of programme evaluation and health services research.

The individual will play a critical role in anchoring the Centre’s Programme Evaluation Unit (Health Services) that will be servicing the Ministry of Health. The individual will contribute to the Centre’s research agenda to support programme evaluation and health services research in Singapore, gaining the opportunity to work with leading experts, policy makers, and programme implementers in the field. The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) trains doctors who put patients at the centre of their exemplary care. At the LKCMedicine’s Centre for Geroscience and Geromedicine (CGG), we are developing a timely multi-disciplinary platform to allow nature-inspired knowledge to be transferred for the benefit of healthy ageing in humans. While past research is yet to provide effective solutions for healthy aging, importantly, nature appears to have already solved the problem in the only flying mammals – bats. Bats have several key features with high value to the human health and in particular ageing. These include hosting viruses lethal to humans without getting sick and their exceptionally long lifespan and healthspan (the number of years that someone lives in good health). This centre will focus on its mission of discovering nature-inspired new strategies for healthy longevity and its vision of enhancing health and extending healthspan through accelerated translation from bench to bedside. By working closely with  clinicians in NHG Health and scientists in NTU as well as national and international partners, the centre is positioned to advance nature-inspired research for healthier aging and offer strong new solutions in key areas including Skin & Musculoskeletal Health, Metabolic Aging & Nutrition, Brain Aging & Health and Cancer & Regenerative medicine.

We are looking for a highly motivated Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow to join the Centre for Geroscience and Geromedicine at LKCMedicine to support various aspects of translational immunology and aging research. The work will be conducted in a research group led by Nanyang Assistant Professor Ahn Matae who is a pioneer in bat immunology. The projects focus on bat-inspired new strategies to fight human diseases and ageing, and have multiple national and international collaborations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform tasks and support all aspects of the research projects.

• Effective management of biosample and biobank inventory.

The candidate will work with a team of business development managers, regulatory specialists, and manufacturing engineers to prepare the product for commercialization. This will involve the robust characterization of the product for its mechanical, biocompatibility, procoagulant and wet adhesive properties, among others. The study will involve a broad range of in vitro testing following industry standards, alongside large animal validation studies (non-GLP and GLP, non-survival and survival). Other duties include the management of the laboratory (safety and logistics), supervision of students (undergraduate and graduate) and contribution to research grants preparation.

Qualifications

•    Possess a PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or equivalent.
•    Preferably with 5 years of postdoctoral experience in a relevant research field.

The following skills are a requisite:
o    Biomaterial development, which may include mechanical processing, chemical synthesis, additive manufacturing or microfabrication (or other relevant techniques)
o    Material characterization and testing (mechanical, biocompatibility, surface chemistry, electron microscopy)
o    Blood handling, processing and characterization (biochemistry, biophysics, histology, etc.)
o    Familiar with animal study design, execution and associated administrative procedures
o    Familiar with laboratory management and operations (safety, procurement, documentation, etc.)

•    Experience and expertise in thrombosis biology and molecular biology will be an advantage.
•    Good written and spoken communication skills.
•    Open to fixed-term contract.
