Job Description

Responsibilities:

1. Automation specialist

Job Description

The Singapore Household Archetyping & Town Geodemographic Modelling (SGHA-TGM) project, commissioned by the Ministry of National Development, aims to build foundational knowledge in Singapore population geodemographics, with a particular emphasis on understanding household lifestyle preferences and their relationships with the built environment. The project is intended to develop the knowledge and technical capabilities to surface insights into the diverse socio-spatial contexts of urban living in Singapore, to support urban planners in anticipating evolving needs, sensemaking sentiments on the ground, and fostering a more inclusive and liveable urban environment.

We seek a highly motivated Research Assistant to contribute to the quantitative components of the SGHA-TGM project. You will develop computational models to enable the discovery of latent population structures, archetypes, and typologies from large-scale datasets. You will work alongside qualitative researchers to interpret and evolve the representational fidelity of groupings and insights derived from data to connect to lived experience and reflect real diversity in urban social life. These outputs will support forecasting frameworks and help planners anticipate evolving household needs at finer spatial scales.

Responsibilities
•    Clean, process, and integrate large population datasets from multiple sources (demographics, survey, behavioral, or administrative data), with differing schemas and granularity.
•   Implement clustering, classification, scenario simulation/projection, and probabilistic modeling techniques (such as statistical matching, spatial disaggregation, generative models) to derive household/resident archetypes from heterogeneous data sources.
•    Prototype, test, and refine different models/algorithms.
•    Collaborate with social science & urban studies researchers to ground quantitative findings in real-world population dynamics.
•    Coordinate with other technical teams to align modeling outputs with downstream projection needs and improve end-to-end workflows.
•    Contribute to data/method documentation, visualisations, and writing reports/publications.

Qualifications

Research Assistant

We are looking for research assistants with a quantitative background for ongoing research in Public Health.
They will be working within the team under the Principal Investigator Dr Shihui Jin alongside multiple collaborators and experts.
Methods include agent based/individual based modelling, SEIR modelling, geospatial statistics, Bayesian statistics, burden mapping, measuring the impact of the environment on disease among others. The PI has projects in both infectious and chronic disease, measuring the impact of interventions.

Candidates need to be able to understand statistical modelling, have a mathematical background, and be fluent in R programming. We will also consider candidates who have extensive C++ or Python coding knowledge as these are transferrable to R.

The candidate will be working with the Principal Investigator(s) on the analysis of national health datasets, utilising an array of methods to infer statistical relationships and health outcomes. Further mathematical modelling will also be carried out when necessary involving diagnostic flows and where appropriate, disease spread and/or illness progression.

The Principal Investigator(s) is seeking for an independent worker who is well-organized, analytical and codes competently. They will however be receiving support from a team of mathematicians, epidemiologists and statisticians, and have a diverse portfolio of tasks. Under the team’s guidance, they will be expected to co-lead their own publications.

We are seeking talented individuals for the position of Research Assistant. We welcome applicants with a BSc for the Research Assistant position in various backgrounds such as experimental psychology, biopsychology, cognitive psychology, educational neuroscience, NeuroAI, neuropsychology, neurology, psychiatry, cognitive neuroscience, AI in education, deep learning, biomedical engineering, computer science, and related fields. You will be an integral member of an inter-disciplinary Science of Learning research team in developing brain-based machine-learning predictive models for early identification of mathematical learning difficulties in kindergarten and early primary level students.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a research project focusing on application machine learning techniques to develop predictive models for early identification of mathematical learning difficulties. This position requires task-orientation, excellent organizational skills, attention to details and accuracy, flexibility in responding to fluid situations, good interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently. As the assessment tools have already been established and implemented, the project is now at an exciting stage focused on high-quality data collection, data management, and subsequent AI-driven analysis. Key Responsibilities:

• Handle grant-related administrative tasks (e.g., prepare and amend ethics documents)

• Play a central role in coordinating and running of neuroimaging study

• Develop and/or manage data analysis pipelines

Job Description

The Research Assistant will work under Professor Lee Soo Chin’s laboratory, supporting translational and clinical research in breast cancer, with a focus on novel therapeutics, biomarker discovery, and pharmacogenetics. The role will contribute to ongoing studies involving targeted therapies, functional genomics, spatial genomics, and investigation of inter-ethnic differences in drug response.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Laboratory & Experimental Work

• Perform molecular biology and cell biology experiments, including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, western blot and cell culture.
• Fluorescence-Activated Cell Sorting analysis (flow cytometry)
• Conduct drug response assays involving targeted therapies (e.g., kinase inhibitors, endocrine therapies).

2. Clinical & Translational Research Support

• Assist in the coordination and execution of clinical research studies and trials (e.g., biomarker-driven therapeutic studies).
• Process and manage patient-derived samples, including blood and tumor specimens.
• Ensure proper documentation and compliance with ethical and regulatory guidelines.

3. Data Management & Analysis

• Record, organize, and maintain accurate experimental and clinical data.
• Perform basic data analysis and assist in interpretation of results, including pharmacokinetic and pharmacogenetic data.
• Support preparation of reports, manuscripts, and presentations.

4. Research Operations & Collaboration

• Maintain laboratory inventory, reagents, and equipment.
• Work closely with clinicians, scientists, and external collaborators on multidisciplinary projects.
• Assist in general lab administration and safety compliance.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry, or a related field.

Experience

• Prior laboratory experience in molecular biology, cancer biology, or related research is preferred.

• Animal work experience is a plus but not required.

Technical Skills
