The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) trains doctors who put patients at the centre of their exemplary care. This centre will focus on its mission of discovering nature-inspired new strategies for healthy longevity and its vision of enhancing health and extending healthspan through accelerated translation from bench to bedside. We are looking for a highly motivated Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow to join the Centre for Geroscience and Geromedicine at LKCMedicine to support various aspects of translational immunology and aging research. The work will be conducted in a research group led by Nanyang Assistant Professor Ahn Matae who is a pioneer in bat immunology. The projects focus on bat-inspired new strategies to fight human diseases and ageing, and have multiple national and international collaborations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Experience identifying, designing and completing medium to large features independently, without guidance
• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree or completing a postdoctoral assignment in the field of Computer Science, Computer Engineering or relevant technical field. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta
• Experience building and shipping high quality work and achieving high reliability
• Relevant experience using frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow or equivalent
• Experience programming in a relevant language

Preferred Qualifications

• Interpersonal experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment
• Exposure to architectural patterns of large scale software applications
• Demonstrated software engineer experience via an internship, work experience, coding competitions, or used contributions in open source repositories (e.g. GitHub)
• Experience solving complex problems and comparing alternative solutions, tradeoffs, and different perspectives to determine a path forward
• Experience with programming languages such as Python, R, MATLAB
• Research and/or hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas: Machine Learning, NLP, Recommendation Systems, Pattern Recognition, Data Mining, Computer Vision, Artificial Intelligence or other relevant fields
• Proven track record of achieving results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as first-authored publications at workshops or conferences such as KDD, NeurIPS, ICML, WWW, ACL, ICLR, CVPR or similar
• Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
• Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
• Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies

Job Description

NUS Cities at the College of Design and Engineering is recruiting a full-time Research Assistant to join a research project to investigate the relationship between natural environment, perceptions and affordances, and motivations to use for health promotion purposes. The contract will be for 18 months with possible extension subject to funding availability.

Job scope:
1.    To undertake high-quality research in human and nature relationship for health promotion.
2.    To conduct systematic reviews relevant to human and nature relationship for health promotion.
3.    To conduct spatial study (field, desktop) and social studies (e.g., surveys, photo elicitation, focus groups).
4.    To manage and analyse qualitative and quantitative data.
5.    To contribute to the preparation of scientific manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication.
6.    To support the overall coordination of the research project. 

Qualifications

1.    Bachelor's with honours or master's degree in landscape studies, urban studies, environmental psychology, or other relevant disciplines.
2.    Ability to write and communicate in English as the candidate will need to publish papers in English journal.
3.    Have some experience conducting quantitative research (e.g., survey data collection, spatial analysis particularly in relation to urban spaces) and qualitative research (e.g., photo elicitation, focus groups).
4.    Experience in data management and analysis using geospatial software (e.g., QGIS) and statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R, or Phyton).
5.    Ability to work independently, demonstrate a good organisational skill.
