Role Summary:

The Special Needs Educator plays a critical role in delivering customized educational programs that cater to the unique learning needs of students with special needs. This educator will design, implement, and evaluate individualized education plans (IEPs) for students, ensuring holistic development across academic, social, and emotional domains. By fostering a nurturing and supportive learning environment, the educator will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and engage with parents to drive positive student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

1. Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Development

• Collaborate with specialists (therapists, counselors, etc.) and families to design and implement personalized IEPs for each student.
• Ensure the IEP aligns with the student’s goals and addresses academic, social, and behavioral needs.
• Regularly assess, review, and adjust IEPs based on the student’s progress and changing needs.

2. Instructional Delivery

• Develop and implement differentiated lesson plans that cater to various learning styles and abilities.
• Use creative and adaptive teaching methods, including assistive technology, to meet diverse student needs.
• Facilitate individual and group learning sessions, ensuring each student is engaged and supported.

3. Progress Monitoring and Assessment

• Conduct ongoing formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and document learning outcomes.
• Maintain detailed records of each student’s academic performance, key observations, behavioral progress, and developmental milestones. Inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and active learning.
• Implement positive behavior management strategies and de-escalation techniques, ensuring a safe learning space for all.
• Address challenging behaviors with evidence-based interventions and document behavioral changes as needed.

4. Daily Care and Safety

• Supervise and monitor students during classroom activities, outdoor play, and transitions to ensure their safety.
• Follow established health and safety protocols to manage risks, prevent accidents, and maintain a safe learning environment for all students.
• Be aware of and ready to implement emergency procedures and first aid protocols in

case of accidents or health concerns.

5. Collaboration and Teamwork

• Work closely with therapists, learning support staff, and other educators to provide a coordinated approach to student’s care.
• Participate in team meetings to discuss student progress, share resources, and collaborate on strategies for improved learning outcomes.
• Maintain regular communication with parents or caregivers, ensuring they are informed of their child’s progress and development.

Requirements

1. Educational Background

• Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, Psychology, or a related field. Unrelated fields may also be considered.
• Additional certifications in special education methodologies (e.g., ABA, TEACCH, DIR/Floortime, etc.) are advantageous.

2. Experience

• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working with students who have special needs (e.g., ASD, ADHD, intellectual disabilities). Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
• Experience working in both individual and group settings with special needs students is preferred.

3. Technical Skills

• Proficiency in developing and implementing IEPs.
• Experience using assistive technology and alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS, AAC).
• Strong skills in using digital tools for progress monitoring, lesson planning, and student communication.

4. Personal Qualities

• Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to manage diverse student needs.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and parents.

Job Scope:

• Provide administrative and logistical support for programmes
• Coordinate participant engagement, including invitations, registration, and onboarding
• Track registrations and attendance, ensuring accurate reporting and follow-ups
• Handle queries related to event participation, ensuring a smooth guest experience
• Assist in drafting and coordinating public communications
• Provide ad-hoc administrative support as required

Requirements:

• Degree in Communications, International Relations, Business Administration, or a related field
• Experience in managing registrations, tracking, and reimbursements
• Experience in event planning, logistics coordination and public communications

Programme Coordinator (Part-Time / Hourly Rated)

Location: 4S Active Ageing Centre @ Eunos Crescent

Employment Type: Part-Time

Salary:

• Part-Time (22 hours per week): $1,100 – $1,500 per month, commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience; or
• Hourly Rated: $12 – $15 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience.

Job Responsibilities

• Conduct needs assessments to support the development and enhancement of programmes and activities for seniors.
• Conduct outreach activities to engage seniors, community partners and stakeholders.
• Plan, organise and facilitate programmes, activities and outings based on the needs and interests of seniors.
• Coordinate with external organisations, service providers and community partners for the implementation of programmes.
• Develop programme materials, publicity content and informational resources for seniors and volunteers.
• Guide and support volunteers in the execution of programme activities.
• Manage communications and feedback from seniors, caregivers, volunteers and other stakeholders.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and service enhancement projects.
• Prepare programme reports and provide updates to the supervisor.
• Provide administrative and reception support, including managing incoming calls, walk-in enquiries and programme registrations.
• Assist in contacting and inviting seniors to participate in programmes and activities.
• Assist in inventory management and stock-taking of programme supplies and equipment.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the Centre Manager.

Job Requirements

• Minimum Higher Nitec, Diploma, or currently pursuing studies in Community Care, Social Work, Gerontology, Psychology, Business Administration, Event Management, Communications or related disciplines.
• Passionate about serving seniors and contributing to community-based services.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Organised, responsible and willing to learn.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Prior volunteer, community service or programme coordination experience will be an advantage.

Working Hours

• Part-Time: Up to 22 hours per week; or
• Flexible hourly arrangement based on operational needs and mutual agreement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Programme Executive primarily implements initiatives and development plans that are congruent with the organisation's goals and the needs of the community

Programme Implementation

• Establish links and partnerships with relevant agencies to determine programme requirements and relevance
• Identify upcoming trends affecting programme's success
• Follow best practices and new methodologies aimed at enhancing programme impact
• Follow service framework for programme work plans, resource requirement and budgeting
• Follow procedures for programmes pertaining to community service
• Plan and collaborate with other organisations to achieve programme's goals
• Support Reporting Officer in reviewing the alignment of programme to centre objectives
• Support Reporting Officer in reviewing effectiveness of programmes

Community Work

• Implement community outreach event/ Coordinate Roadshows
• Deliver social work programmes to meet the targeted needs
• Gather relevant information from different sources
• Link up of community resources
• Support the team in rendering services to the community, e.g. home visit, medical escort and others

Volunteer Management

• Communicate appropriate programme objectives to volunteers as required
• Provide guidance to volunteers on executing effective programmes
• Develop growing team of volunteers to support various programmes
• Network and build relationships with potential partners that have many volunteers
• Identify and retain committed volunteers

Compliance

• Consolidate status of KPIs periodically
• Ensure expenditure is within the budget
• Ensure KPIs will be met within the timeline as per funding agencies' requirement
• Support Reporting Officer in preparing monthly/ quarterly/ yearly reports by preparing the relevant and required information

Ad-hoc Duties

• Provide any other support as assigned/required

• Possess Degree in any discipline from an accredited institution

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE:

• Prior experience in events or programmes design, planning and implementation will be an advantage
• Working knowledge of social service practices will be an advantage
