Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Assistant/ Research Associate (QC Analytical Chemist) in the Department of Clinical Imaging Research Centre (CIRC) Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Purpose of the post

The QC Analytical Chemist will be responsible to, and work closely with Head of QC, to ensure the successful and safe release of radiopharmaceuticals manufactured at CIRC. The QC Analytical Chemist’s principal role will be to perform all quality control tests required by pharmacopeia. Alongside with maintaining the inventory of raw materials, maintenance of equipment and all the necessary documentation required for the QC laboratory in compliance to PIC/S GMP.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The QC Analytical Chemist will be responsible for:

• Performing routine QC release testing (HPLC, GC, radioTLC etc) on radiopharmaceutical to ensure quality and safe for clinical use in compliance with PIC/S GMP requirements.
• Support routine QC operations such as daily equipment checks, monthly standard calibration, documentation activities.
• Conducting routine microbial testing activities such as microbial plate incubation, sterility testing, bioburden testing, etc and liaising with third party contractors if required.
• Managing raw materials, including inventory control, purchasing, receipt and status tracking of raw materials.
• Developing and validating QC test methods for the radiopharmaceutical QC release testing.
• Assisting in preparation and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIN), Recordsheets (REC), etc and fill in Batch Manufacturing Records (BMR).
• Supporting in the managing of equipment in the QC and Metabolite laboratories, including qualification, operation, maintenance, cleaning, calibration and re-qualification activities.
• Supporting Production in Research & Development activities when required.
• Maintaining cleanliness and housekeeping within QC laboratories, raw material storage areas, and the cyclotron facility.
• Handling chemical and biohazard waste disposal activities for QC department in accordance with safety and regulatory requirements.

• Performing environmental monitoring activities in cleanroom facilities, including environmental and airborne particle sampling, when required

Role Summary
As a Research Scientist (AutoResearch on LLM), you will focus on cutting edge AI-Driven AI development using Autoresearch(Automated MachineLearning) for Large Language Models (LLM). You will design and deploy automated research frameworks that autonomously discover. optimize, and train the next-generation LLM architectures. You will bridge the gap between hardware constraints and model design ensuring that the automatically optimized architectures achieve or exceed the pre-training efficiency and downstream performance of state of the art established base models

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build and scale automated search and optimization systems (Such as Neural Architecture Search, evolutionary algorithms, or LLM-driven research agents) to autonomously discover optimal LLM architectures
• Analyze and integrate hardware level constraints (e.g. tensor parallel limits, memory bandwidths, latency, cache hierarchies, FLOPs, and energy efficiency of target silicon) into the optimization loop
• Scale up discovered architectures to perform large-scale pre-training. Ensure the final models meet to exceed the performance, training efficiency, and convergence rate of existing top-tier foundation models
• Develop accurate, cost effective proxy task, evaluation protocols, and scaling laws to predict full-scale LLM performance from early-stage automated search limits
• Collaborate closely with chip architects, system/compiler engineers, and foundation model researchers to co-optimize hardware execution efficiency and model training algorithms
• Stay at the forefront of AutoML, hardware-software co-design, and LLM pre-training literature, contributing to peer-reviewed publications and IP generation where applicable

How will you stand out

• Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related quantitative field with a focus on Deep Learning
• Strong research background in LLM pre-training, Transformer architectures, and scaling dynamics
• Hands-on experience with AutoResearch, AutoML, automated optimization algorithms, or using AI agents/LLMs for automated scientific discovery
• Solid understanding of GPU/accelerator architectures, memory hierarchies, parallel training strategies(tensor, pipeline, data parallel) and hardware performance profiling
• Production grade coding skills in Python and deep learning frameworks (e.g. Pytorch, JAX, Megatron-LM, Deepspeed).
• Demonstrated experience in training, scaling and evaluating large scaling models from scratch
• Having first author publications in top tier machine learning or system conferences (e.g. NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ASPLOS, ISCA, MLSys) is preferred
• Experience writing custom kernels (e.g. Triton, CUDA) or working with machine learning compilers are preferred
• Direct experience working with silicon/chip design teams to customize model architectures for specific ASIC/GPU/FPGA constraints.

Job Description

The Research Fellow (RF) will conduct research in the field of coastal dynamics, with a focus on the development and application of machine-learning-enhanced coastal models. The project aims to advance nearshore hydrodynamic modelling by integrating data-driven and physics-based approaches for simulating wave propagation, wave transformation, and wave–current interaction from deep water to shallow coastal environments.

The successful candidate will work on developing and improving depth-integrated, phase-resolving coastal models, with machine learning techniques incorporated to enhance model accuracy, efficiency, parameterisation, uncertainty quantification, and/or surrogate modelling. The research may involve the use of observational, experimental, or high-fidelity numerical data to train, validate, and improve model performance.

The developed model will be applied to coastal engineering problems, including wave transformation, nearshore circulation, and extreme coastal processes. Depending on the project needs, the model may also be coupled with high-resolution CFD models to enable multi-scale coastal process modelling.

Job Requirements

•    Possess a PHD in related field such as coastal and ocean engineering.

Job Description

The National University of Singapore is seeking a motivated Research Fellow to join an applied research project on bio-based Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) composites for low-carbon corrosion protection of steel structures in severe marine environments.

The project aims to develop and validate sustainable FRP systems derived from bio-based resins as a next-generation solution for protecting coastal and marine infrastructure. The Research Fellow will work closely with a multidisciplinary team from NUS and industry partner Fyfe Asia Pte Ltd, contributing to laboratory testing, durability assessment, field exposure studies, and life-cycle evaluation of bio-based FRP technologies.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a high-impact national research project aligned with Singapore’s coastal protection, infrastructure resilience, and sustainability goals. This role offers strong exposure to industry collaboration, applied materials research, marine durability testing, and technology translation.

Key responsibilities include:

•    Conduct material characterization of bio-based FRP composites, including mechanical and physical property testing.
•    Design and perform durability tests under simulated marine conditions, including salt spray, water resistance, UV exposure, chemical resistance, accelerated aging, and long-term exposure studies.
•    Evaluate the corrosion protection performance of FRP-wrapped steel and compare it with conventional protection methods such as coatings and galvanizing.
•    Support field investigations and exposure testing at coastal or marine test sites.
•    Analyze experimental data and develop service-life insights for FRP-protected steel structures.
•    Assist in life-cycle cost and carbon emission assessments comparing bio-based FRP with conventional FRP and traditional corrosion protection technologies.
