The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) trains doctors who put patients at the centre of their exemplary care. Bats have several key features with high value to the human health and in particular ageing. These include hosting viruses lethal to humans without getting sick and their exceptionally long lifespan and healthspan (the number of years that someone lives in good health). This centre will focus on its mission of discovering nature-inspired new strategies for healthy longevity and its vision of enhancing health and extending healthspan through accelerated translation from bench to bedside. By working closely with  clinicians in NHG Health and scientists in NTU as well as national and international partners, the centre is positioned to advance nature-inspired research for healthier aging and offer strong new solutions in key areas including Skin & Musculoskeletal Health, Metabolic Aging & Nutrition, Brain Aging & Health and Cancer & Regenerative medicine.

We are looking for a highly motivated Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow to join the Centre for Geroscience and Geromedicine at LKCMedicine to support various aspects of translational immunology and aging research. The work will be conducted in a research group led by Nanyang Assistant Professor Ahn Matae who is a pioneer in bat immunology. The projects focus on bat-inspired new strategies to fight human diseases and ageing, and have multiple national and international collaborations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform tasks and support all aspects of the research projects.

• Support centre’s operations, research administration, local/international partnerships and commercialization.

• Effective management of biosample and biobank inventory. 

• Conduct accurate monitoring, documenting and reporting of experimental results and/or research findings.

Job Description

NUS Cities at the College of Design and Engineering is recruiting a full-time Research Assistant to join a research project to investigate the relationship between natural environment, perceptions and affordances, and motivations to use for health promotion purposes. The contract will be for 18 months with possible extension subject to funding availability.

Job scope:
1.    To undertake high-quality research in human and nature relationship for health promotion.
2.    To conduct systematic reviews relevant to human and nature relationship for health promotion.
3.    To conduct spatial study (field, desktop) and social studies (e.g., surveys, photo elicitation, focus groups).
4.    To manage and analyse qualitative and quantitative data.
5.    To contribute to the preparation of scientific manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication.
6.    To support the overall coordination of the research project. 

Qualifications

1.    Bachelor's with honours or master's degree in landscape studies, urban studies, environmental psychology, or other relevant disciplines.
2.    Ability to write and communicate in English as the candidate will need to publish papers in English journal.
3.    Have some experience conducting quantitative research (e.g., survey data collection, spatial analysis particularly in relation to urban spaces) and qualitative research (e.g., photo elicitation, focus groups).
4.    Experience in data management and analysis using geospatial software (e.g., QGIS) and statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R, or Phyton).
5.    Ability to work independently, demonstrate a good organisational skill.

Key Responsibilities:

• The postdoctoral applicant must demonstrate commitment to co-create impactful discoveries in the microbiome gut-brain neuroscience field with us.

• In addition to being exceptionally motivated, having core skills for animal and lab work, and willing to work in our team and help with essential lab duties.

• The candidate must have experience and specialized expertise in multiphoton/ 2-photon in vivo calcium imaging and data analysis, or in gnotobiotic studies and microbiome analysis/bioinformatics.

Key Competencies/Requirements:

• Hold a doctoral (PhD) degree in neuroscience or relevant disciplines with strong publication track record

• Lead impactful work within the lab’s research theme on the microbiome gut brain neuroscience

• Exhibit proficiency in mice/rodent handling, optogenetics and behaviours, animal surgery and dissection

• Demonstrate experience and specialized expertise in multiphoton/ 2-photon in vivo calcium imaging and data analysis, or in gnotobiotic studies and microbiome analysis/bioinformatics

• Be highly motivated and conscientious, able to work independently and with a team, and willing to teach, learn, and assist with essential lab duties

Job Profile Summary:

In Actuarial Pricing, the main responsibility is to price insurance products in accordance with internal financial benchmarks as well as regulatory requirements. The staff will be responsible in supporting the product delivery process, providing the actuarial requirements for product launches timely and accurately. The staff will also support all queries pertaining to product features and designs, as well as support any ad-hoc projects that may arise.

Job Description:

• Understand and carry out the product pricing and delivery process.
• Apply actuarial technical knowledge in making actual business decisions.
• Learn principles of product pricing framework, regulatory requirements, and gain a sense of business acumen.
• Support all queries pertaining to product features and designs.
• Support any ad-hoc projects that may arise.

Education

• Degree in Actuarial Science or related disciplines (Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics, etc.)
