Role purpose of the Business Acceptance Unit

• To process requests from partners for A&O to accept new legal matters including, in particular, performing anti-money laundering and background checks on new clients and performing conflicts checks (within internal databases) on each new matter (for both new and existing clients);
• To obtain from relevant lawyers required evidence of identity for new clients (and existing clients for whom the practice has done no work in the preceding two years and whose ownership or control may therefore have changed in the intervening period);
• To screen and, where requested, send conflict search emails (containing information on new legal matters) to all partners and to monitor responses, analyse search results and, in consultation with the originating lawyers, determine whether or not the new legal matter is clear of conflicts and appropriate for the practice to take on;

Role Overview

We are seeking a Technical Business Analyst to support our APAC equities and custody offerings through strong product knowledge and integration tools. 

The successful candidate will be go-to expert for systems and Global securities integrations. You enjoy the details as well as the components of trading and mappings from middle-office to post-trade reporting. You work with our API library and FIX integrations, whether it’s assisting new clients with setup, designing new features with the development team or testing releases. It would be ideal if one has 2-5 years’ experience in an analyst or similar product role such as an IT business analyst within the financial industry with responsibility of trading systems.

Key Responsibilities

Client-needs analysis

·       Possess a deep understanding of the global Securities business, its customers and their needs.

·       Data capture management E2E, intake and ongoing(for new and existing clients).

·       Formulating rules and parameters with respect to system enhancements, new integrations, modules and new features (as required by business and/or external clients).

·       Investigate and support new issues and queries with direction and resolution where applicable.

Trading and systems management

·       Ability to act as the subject matter expert in functions such as order management, trading systems, order routing, market data, instruments, execution, settlement, modelling, reporting, data management and integrations.

·       Provide training to internal teams and hand-offswhen necessary.

Contribute to development and third-party partners /vendors

·       Contribute to the development process and provide the client usability perspective during design reviews and conducting testing as required.

·       Provide direction and input to the IT team regarding the solution throughout the development, QA and implementation process, together with reviewing all enhancements to ensure accuracy and stability within the system and full solutions offering.

Creating specifications

·       Articulate rules, parameters and requirements pertaining to Velocity systems.

·       Define and document business requirements, configure technical specifications for the development team to utilize effectively.

·       Create training material (both internal and external) on new/existing features and distribute to all stakeholders.

Ad hoc tasks

·       Effectively liaise with other VT offices within the group.

·      To perform any other duties as required by the business.

Project Management

·      Independently run small projects, resourcing tasks and communicating progress at a sprint level.

·      Manage issues with appropriate levels of urgency for all stakeholders, escalating to management when necessary.

Requirements

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Qualification/ Education Level

Bachelor Degree - Degree in Computer Science, Business Analysis, Engineering or BCom. Similar technical diplomas and or related work experience would be considered.

Experience

2-5 years’ experience in an analyst or similar product role such as an IT business analyst within the financial industry with responsibility of trading systems.

Legal & Documentation Responsibilities (Key Focus Area)

• Review treasury-related legal documents — including banking agreements, trade finance instruments, KYC packages, Board Resolutions, and CRS/FATCA forms, to identify potential risks, obligations, and operational impacts.
• Highlight key clauses, propose amendments, and escalate potential legal or contractual issues to the internal Legal team for further review.
• Prepare, coordinate, and manage global banking documentation, including bank account opening, closing, mandate updates, and signatory changes.
• Support global bank guarantee applications and ensure all supporting documents meet legal and compliance requirements.
• Maintain the master list of authorized signatories and ensure timely updates with banks and e-banking platforms across all global entities.
• Prepare and distribute annual confirmations of bank accounts and bank guarantees, ensuring documentation completeness and compliance alignment.
• Ensure proper documentation management, data archiving, and adherence to internal control standards and regulatory requirements.

Treasury Operations & System Responsibilities

• Maintain and update bank account data, structures, and cash-pooling configurations within the Treasury Management System (TMS).
• Ensure accurate, timely recording of trade finance transactions, FX deals, and intercompany loans in TMS and SAP.
• Administer and maintain treasury-related systems (e.g., TMS, SAP S/4HANA, and e-banking platforms).
• Provide system support, troubleshooting, and end-user assistance to internal stakeholders.
• Ensure secure banking connectivity and compliance with payment security, data protection, and internal control requirements.

Strategic & Project Support

• Support M&A activities by integrating newly acquired entities into treasury systems and managing Treasury separation for divested entities, including related documentation.
• Identify opportunities to enhance, automate, and digitalize treasury processes and documentation workflows.
• Provide general administrative and operational support to ensure smooth Treasury Middle Office operations.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Daily Risk Control and Reporting:

1. Produce, validate, and analyze daily P&L and exposure reports for physical and derivative trading portfolios.
2. Reconcile trading positions, prices, and valuations with independent market data.
3. Monitor and investigate P&L variances, market movements, and new deal impacts.
4. Ensure timely escalation of limit breaches or unusual exposures.
5. Monitor market risk metrics, including VaR, stress testing, and scenario analysis.
6. Analyze exposure to key drivers (commodity price, FX, interest rate, freight).
7. Support counterparty exposure analysis, credit utilization tracking and limit monitoring.

• Systems and Data Integrity:

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 8 years of relevant working experience, preferably in commodities trading or related risk management functions.
• High integrity, professional ethics and sense of responsibility, with strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
• Excellent command of English and Chinese, both written and spoken, as this role requires regular communication with internal and external stakeholders, as well as the preparation and review of bilingual business documents, reports and presentations.
