Research Fellow / Senior Research Fellow in Programme Evaluation

The Health Intervention and Policy Evaluation Research Centre (HIPER) (https://hiper.nus.edu.sg/) at the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH), NUS, is seeking to hire an individual with relevant skillset and experience to lead and support the work in the area of programme evaluation and health services research.

The individual will play a critical role in anchoring the Centre’s Programme Evaluation Unit (Health Services) that will be servicing the Ministry of Health. The individual will contribute to the Centre’s research agenda to support programme evaluation and health services research in Singapore, gaining the opportunity to work with leading experts, policy makers, and programme implementers in the field. They will be expected to perform research administration, conduct formative and evaluation-driven research, and disseminate findings.

The role will require a highly motivated and capable team-player who can engage with incoming briefs and help shape and construct deliverables in a timely manner. The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) trains doctors who put patients at the centre of their exemplary care. At the LKCMedicine’s Centre for Geroscience and Geromedicine (CGG), we are developing a timely multi-disciplinary platform to allow nature-inspired knowledge to be transferred for the benefit of healthy ageing in humans. While past research is yet to provide effective solutions for healthy aging, importantly, nature appears to have already solved the problem in the only flying mammals – bats. Bats have several key features with high value to the human health and in particular ageing. These include hosting viruses lethal to humans without getting sick and their exceptionally long lifespan and healthspan (the number of years that someone lives in good health). This centre will focus on its mission of discovering nature-inspired new strategies for healthy longevity and its vision of enhancing health and extending healthspan through accelerated translation from bench to bedside. By working closely with  clinicians in NHG Health and scientists in NTU as well as national and international partners, the centre is positioned to advance nature-inspired research for healthier aging and offer strong new solutions in key areas including Skin & Musculoskeletal Health, Metabolic Aging & Nutrition, Brain Aging & Health and Cancer & Regenerative medicine.

We are looking for a highly motivated Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow to join the Centre for Geroscience and Geromedicine at LKCMedicine to support various aspects of translational immunology and aging research. The work will be conducted in a research group led by Nanyang Assistant Professor Ahn Matae who is a pioneer in bat immunology. The projects focus on bat-inspired new strategies to fight human diseases and ageing, and have multiple national and international collaborations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform tasks and support all aspects of the research projects.

• Support centre’s operations, research administration, local/international partnerships and commercialization.

• Effective management of biosample and biobank inventory. 

• Conduct accurate monitoring, documenting and reporting of experimental results and/or research findings.

• To support APAC valuation tasks for Australia and Singapore as follows:

Job Description

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a passion for medical research to oversee the development of a novel non-adherent traumatic wound dressing. The candidate will work with a team of business development managers, regulatory specialists, and manufacturing engineers to prepare the product for commercialization. This will involve the robust characterization of the product for its mechanical, biocompatibility, procoagulant and wet adhesive properties, among others. The study will involve a broad range of in vitro testing following industry standards, alongside large animal validation studies (non-GLP and GLP, non-survival and survival). Other duties include the management of the laboratory (safety and logistics), supervision of students (undergraduate and graduate) and contribution to research grants preparation.

Qualifications

•    Possess a PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or equivalent.
•    Preferably with 5 years of postdoctoral experience in a relevant research field.

The following skills are a requisite:
o    Biomaterial development, which may include mechanical processing, chemical synthesis, additive manufacturing or microfabrication (or other relevant techniques)

o Manage the schedule and execute the necessary follow up of the surveys and on-the-ground feedback

o Support manager with the conduct of the trainings and workshops

o Review of training materials and programs periodically

o Develop SOPs

o Develop Talent Management Program and career development framework

§ Performance Appraisal Management

o Support manager in the creation and designing of the performance appraisal process

o Administration and collation of performance appraisal/data periodically

o Interpret data collected, give recommendations and tabulate competencies for succession planning accordingly

o Recommend courses to address IDP

o Administer psychometric assessment for promotees

§ People Management

o Mentor newcomers to integrate them well into the department

What You'll Be Doing

·      Research and profile target companies and decision-makers using available online resources —LinkedIn, company websites, industry directories, trade publications, and professional networks

·      Build and expand new prospect databases through digital research, social platforms, and professional networks

·      Verify and enrich existing database records by cross-referencing multiple sources and direct outreach where needed

·      Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in the CRM, ensuring data integrity at all times

·      Monitor industry news, events, and professional communities to identify emerging prospects and market shifts

·      Track and meet KPIs around database quality, data accuracy, and lead-to-conversion rates

·      Collaborate closely with the Sales and Marketing teams to align prospect targeting with upcoming training events
