Job Purpose

Main Responsibilities & Key Result Areas

• Understanding the skill sets from BLM
• Sourcing the candidates by using job portals like Naukri/job posting

Summary

The System Administrator/Engineer (SA/E) is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff, volunteers, and Partners.

Job Description

• Infrastructure Management: Configure, deploy, and manage cloud resources like virtual machines, storage, and databases.

• Security: Implement and enforce security policies, monitor for threats, and manage user access controls.

• Performance Optimization: Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize resource utilization.

• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical issues with cloud infrastructure and applications.

• Automation: Automate routine tasks using scripting and automation tools.

• Collaboration: Work with other IT teams, including development, operations, and security, to support cloud deployments.

• Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.

• Cost Optimization: Identify and implement cost-saving measures for cloud resources.

• Software and System Deployment: Plan and deploy new application software upgrades / Reports as required

• Incident Management: Perform incident management, vendor management and reporting

• Disaster Recovery: Involve in the Disaster Recovery planning and execution of DR procedures during simulated dry runs and actual disaster runs

Requirements

• Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure is essential

Technical Expertise and Knowledge preferred:

• OS : Windows, Linux, AIX,

• Middleware : WebSphere Application Servers, WebSphere Message Queue, Solace.

• Datawarehouse : Snowflake

• Data Integration Tools : Fivetran

• Cloud Platform Expertise: Experience with one or more cloud platforms such as AWS,

• Azure, Google Cloud, or other similar providers

• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Proficiency in using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible to manage cloud infrastructure

• Cloud Resource Management: Experience in deploying, managing, and monitoring cloud based instances (e.g., virtual machines, storage, networking, etc.)

• Automation & Scripting: Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) to automate tasks in a cloud environment

• Cloud Security: Understanding of cloud security best practices (e.g., IAM roles, security groups, firewall configurations)

• Monitoring & Performance: Strong experience with cloud monitoring tools (e.g., AWS

• CloudWatch, Azure Monitor) to track performance and troubleshoot issues

• Scalability & Cost Management: Practical knowledge in scaling cloud infrastructure dynamically and optimizing costs using reserved instances, spot instances, and autoscaling

Job Summary

The Senior Unix / Linux System Administrator will ensure the stability, security, and performance of Unix and Linux systems supporting high-availability platforms in mission-critical infrastructure environments.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain Unix (e.g., Solaris) and Linux systems across production, test, and disaster recovery environments to ensure operational continuity
• Perform system upgrades, patching, and security hardening to maintain system reliability and compliance with standards
• Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability; analyze metrics and implement improvements to optimize infrastructure
• Manage system backups to guarantee data recoverability and support business continuity plans
• Provide timely system support and troubleshoot incidents to meet service level standards and minimize downtime
• Conduct root cause analysis of system issues and implement preventive measures to reduce recurrence
• Plan and execute system changes following established change management processes to ensure smooth deployment
• Support deployment activities and coordinate releases into production environments to minimize disruptions
• Maintain accurate system configurations and documentation to ensure proper tracking of infrastructure components
• Support disaster recovery planning and participate in regular testing exercises to validate recovery readiness
• Ensure standby and recovery systems are effective and ready for activation during incidents
• Provide infrastructure support for system enhancement projects by collaborating with internal teams to align improvements with business needs
