Job Description

The research aims to develop an online framework for assessing fatigue, structural integrity, and operability of multiple floating offshore wind turbines, supported by computationally efficient learning algorithms with predictive (prognostic) capabilities. The system enables prescriptive decision-making that can be integrated with operation and maintenance strategies. The research staff will work in a multi-disciplinary team on the engineering analysis and design of the floating offshore wind turbine supporting structures, with close collaboration with members from other research institutes in Singapore. 

He/ she will be required to:
-    Develop computationally efficient learning algorithm adaptable for online fatigue and integrity assessment, which includes prognosis approach for predictive analytics.
-    Develop prescriptive fatigue and integrity assessments integrable with operation/maintenance strategy.
-    Coordinate research progress with other research teams in the entire research team

Job Requirements

This Candidate will be working on a tidal project gaining hands on experience with drivetrain development, control system design, electrical machine health monitoring and other electrical circuits. Project Title: Profiling Academic Trajectories and Heterogeneity of Low-Progress Learners for Enhancing Learning Support (PATHS)

Project Introduction: The PATHS study is a Ministry of Education (MOE)-funded longitudinal investigation tracking 500–600 Primary 1 students enrolled in the Learning Support Programme (LSP) and/or Learning Support for Mathematics (LSM) across 20+ Singapore primary schools. Using person-centred analytic models, the study identifies heterogeneous learner subgroups across cognitive, literacy, mathematical, and socio-emotional domains, and examines how these profiles evolve and predict academic outcomes. Findings will inform more targeted, evidence-based support for low-progress learners.

The Research Fellow will lead day-to-day project operations, manage the research team, oversee data collection and analysis pipelines, and contribute to research outputs, under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, and in close collaboration with Co- Principal Investigator s at NTU, NIE, and MOE.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead project coordination across schools and multiple institutional stakeholders across four data collection waves

• Liaise with MOE, school principals, Co- Principal Investigators, and an international consultant; contribute to study materials and data management systems

Joining a high-performing Actuarial Pricing team, you will play a pivotal role in the end-to-end development of innovative life insurance solutions. This role is a blend of technical rigor and strategic influence, focusing on the design and pricing of sophisticated wealth management products.

• Calculate the costs and risks for new insurance plans to ensure they are both profitable for the company and attractive to customers.
• Build and run financial models to predict how products will perform under different market conditions.
• Prepare the necessary documentation and reports for management and local regulators to get new products approved.
• Review competitor products and market trends to help the company stay competitive.
• Work with the sales and investment teams to make sure the products meet the needs of the target audience.

Skills and experience required

• At least 5 years of actuarial experience within a Life Insurance environment. Direct experience in IUL or ILP pricing is highly advantageous.
• Good progress in actuarial exams from a recognized institute (IFoA, SOA, or equivalent).
  
• Advanced skills in Prophet (including ALS if possible) and Excel/VBA. Familiarity with Python or R is a plus.
  
• Strong understanding of Singapore’s regulatory landscape (RBC2) and IFRS 17.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex actuarial concepts into actionable business insights for non-technical stakeholders.

The Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS) is a University Research Institute at Nanyang Technological University Singapore that conducts fundamental research on earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, and climate change in and around Southeast Asia, towards safer and more sustainable societies.

The Climate Transformation Programme (CTP) aims to develop, inspire and accelerate knowledge-based solutions and educate future leaders to establish the stable climate and environment necessary for resilient, just, and sustainable Southeast Asian societies.

CTP will generate knowledge and innovation across disciplines including climate and Earth science, ecology, materials science, artificial intelligence, humanities, social sciences and the arts, finance, health, and engineering. It will also translate state-of-the-art scientific results into real world solutions for Singapore, and it will transfer these solutions to Southeast Asia (SEA) and beyond.

As part of this programme, “Cluster 6. Climate and Human Health”, will predict the future impacts of climate change on human health.

The Research Fellow will work with the PI of the Climate and Human Health cluster, Assoc Prof Konstadina Griva, based in the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, and will lead several projects related to public perceptions of climate change and health, and health communication strategies in the context of climate change.

Key Responsibilities:

• Literature searches and manuscript preparation
• Data collection using mixed methodology
• Statistical analyses and evidence synthesis
• Drafting of progress report(s) and final research report
• Research publications and presentations, and dissemination of the results
• Administrative work associated with the program of research as necessary

Job Requirements:

• PhD degree in psychology, social sciences, or health-related disciplines
• Demonstrate solid foundation in statistical analysis (e.g., SPSS, R, STATA)
• Desired: prior experience in systematic review and evidence synthesis
• Desired: prior research experience in environmental health and health psychology
• As position requires stakeholder engagement in English, candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
• Demonstrate initiative and good interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to work independently with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
