Main Responsibilities
Provide leadership, direction, and education to advance strategic initiatives that strengthen safety culture and regulatory compliance across construction programs.
Develop, implement, and monitor construction EHS programs, standards, and procedures, and support consistent adoption across sites.
Lead construction safety management implementation and facilitate best-practice sharing across projects and regions.
Integrate EHS management system criteria into project planning and execution, including contractor management, pre-task planning, and verification activities.
Plan and perform EHS compliance audits/assessments for construction activities; track findings, support corrective actions, and verify effective closure.
Respond to construction-related emergencies and incidents; lead or support investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions to reduce recurrence.
Analyze safety performance and compliance data, identify trends and leading indicators, and recommend risk-reduction actions aligned to standards and regulations.
Ensure accurate and timely completion of required EHS reports, permits, and records to meet country, state/province, and local requirements.
Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business objectives into actionable EHS plans, deliverables, and resourcing for complex construction programs.
Provide technical guidance on hazard identification and risk assessment for construction and equipment installation activities, including high-risk work.
Other Responsibilities
Serve as a technical advisor or lead contributor on assigned construction initiatives, programs, or project teams.
Coach and mentor less experienced engineers and technicians, as needed, to build capability and consistency.
Support development and deployment of global EHS programs for a multi-cultural audience, including training and change management.
Collaborate with internal partners and contractors to resolve complex compliance questions using required systems, documentation, and data.
AI Responsibilities
Integrate AI-assisted tools and insights into daily work to improve efficiency, quality, and effectiveness, using sound judgment and complying with organizational standards and legal requirements.
Identify, test, and share AI-enabled improvements within one’s scope of work to support continuous improvement.
Minimum Required Qualifications/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Extensive experience (at least 15+ years) leading construction EHS programs, including hazard assessment, incident investigation, and root cause analysis in complex project environments.
Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying EHS regulations and standards and partnering with teams to meet compliance obligations.
Proven ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries, functions, and geographies in a multi-cultural environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel for reporting, analysis, and communication.
Professional certification(s) such as CSP, CIH, NEBOSH, or equivalent will be an added advantage
Experience leading EHS programs for large capital projects across multiple countries and regulatory jurisdictions.
Experience developing and deploying global programs and training to diverse audiences.
Familiarity with EHS management systems and digital tools for auditing, incident management, and corrective action tracking.
Must-Have Technical Skills
Construction safety management expertise (including contractor EHS management and equipment installation safety) in multi-site or multinational environments.
Hazard identification and risk assessment for high-risk construction activities, with practical knowledge of controls and verification methods.
Audit and compliance management, including corrective action planning, tracking, and effectiveness verification.
Incident investigation and root cause analysis methodologies with strong technical writing for reports and corrective actions.
Data analysis and trend reporting to develop leading/lagging indicators and actionable prevention recommendations.

Clear oral and written communication, including the ability to deliver training and translate requirements into actionable plans.

Negotiation and facilitation skills to resolve issues and align teams on risk controls and compliance expectations.
