Responsibilities

• Assess risks and determine the coverage position
• Provide preliminary evaluations to the underwriting team on new business opportunities and renewals
• First point of contact for assigned clients and business partners/intermediaries in service delivery
• Support daily operations in the underwriting department
• Co-ordinate with the underwriting team and intermediaries to identify potential business opportunities

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree ideally from a numerical/technical discipline such as Management/Business Studies, Accountancy, Engineering, Economics, Actuarial Studies, Mathematics, Statistics
• Prior exposure to non-life re/insurance industry is an added bonus
• Candidates without a degree but with relevant re/insurance experience are also welcome
• SCI certifications are required for this position; those without the necessary certifications will be provided with sponsorship
• Actual job title and underwriting line will entirely depend on the candidate's professional experience
• Salary will commensurate with the candidate's experience and the salary range stated in this job posting is only a guide

Responsibilities

• Underwrite Non-Marine (Property, Construction, Energy, Engineering and Liability) insurance policies/covers for large and complex commercial risks in Singapore and other Middle East/APAC territories
• Manage ongoing insurance broker relations and expectations in relation to underwriting, co-ordinating and ensuring the flow of relevant and timely information and communication between internal functions and external parties
• Contribute to managing and developing an agreed portfolio of accounts, negotiate with brokers/customers to achieve favourable terms for the Company
• Underwrite allocated cases in line with the agreed processes with the necessary senior direction and support; underwrite risks in accordance with the Company’s capacity and risk appetite
• Review relevant classes of proposals (case by case) and making balanced and well-reasoned recommendation for acceptance of each case above one's authority
• Provide error-free documentation to brokers/customers
• Ensure transactions are processed within the agreed timeframe; supervise and guide the allocated processing team to ensure timely and accurate recording of transactions
• Ensure compliance with all laws, regulations, and guidelines, including internal policies, rules and procedures
• Develop own skills/knowledge in the functional area with the aim of enhancing the quality of work and achievement of KPIs

Requirements

• At least 10 years' re/insurance underwriting experience in large/complex commercial risks segment; specific experience in the Middle East and/or APAC region is an added bonus
• SCI qualification/Membership of Chartered Insurance Institute (UK) or equivalent; a Degree in engineering or a related technical discipline will be ideal
• Compensation and job title will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience level; salary range stated in this job posting is meant as a guide only
• Knowledge/understanding of the risks underwritten in corporate/commercial segment
• Knowledge of commercial insurance underwriting process and market practices
• Understanding of reinsurance concept and practices
• Experience of conducting risk surveys

• Ability to identify, analyse and interpret data, statistics and information for evidence-based decision-making

Key Responsibilities

1. Build the Change & Release Capability

• Design and implement a practical and lightweight change management framework, including:

* Change classification

* Change approval workflows

* Change documentation standards

* Change tracking within the IT service management platform

2. Coordinate Technology Releases

• Act as the central coordinator for technology deployments across:

* Core insurance applications

* Integration platforms

* Infrastructure environments

* Database releases

• Responsibilities include:

* Maintaining the technology release calendar

* Coordinating deployment windows

* Ensuring release readiness

* Communicating upcoming changes to stakeholders

3. Improve Operational Stability

• Reduce production incidents caused by uncontrolled changes by introducing:

* deployment readiness checks

* rollback planning

* post-implementation reviews

* release coordination across teams

4. Implement Practical Governance

• Introduce lightweight governance mechanisms including:

* weekly change coordination meetings

* risk-based change approval

* structured emergency change procedures

5. Enable Audit and Compliance Readiness

• Maintain a complete audit trail of technology changes and releases.
• Ensure that change processes align with regulatory expectations typical of the insurance and financial services industry.

6. Tooling and Automation

• Configure and manage the organization’s IT service management tooling, including:

* change request workflows

* release tracking dashboards

* change reporting metrics

• Support continuous improvement of release processes.

Requirements

• 10+ years’ experience in technology operations, application delivery, or IT service management
• Experience implementing change and release management processes
• Experience working in insurance, reinsurance, or financial services environments
• Experience working with enterprise applications and infrastructure environments
• Strong familiarity with:

* enterprise application environments

* database-driven applications (Oracle or similar)

* infrastructure platforms

* release coordination practices

* IT service management tools such as ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus
