Main job responsibilities:

• Overall responsible for supplier performance and business relationship, building professional and long-term supplier relationship through IKEA way of doing business, based on a shared business model, trust and transparency 
• Implement category strategy and strategic plan, drive constant supplier performance development from all aspects (Cost, Quality & Food Safety, Sustainability, Logistic)
• Work closely with business team and collaborate with related stakeholders in end-to-end Ikea food value chain (e.g. Retail, Range Area, Supply Chain Operation etc.)
• Lower total cost through value chain optimization, partner with suppliers to continuously enhance the competitiveness
• Act as ambassador of IKEA values, with fact-based business leadership 

In Supply Chain Operations we lead, plan, and execute the supply of IKEA products between suppliers and retailers. We do this by 1) leading tactical and operational planning; 2) securing optimal replenishment; 3) sourcing and developing transport and logistics capacities; and 4) managing and execution of goods flow.

We are looking for suitable candidates for the role of Technical Manager, based at the IKEA Distribution Center in Port Klang, Malaysia.

As a Technical Manager in our Distribution Port Klang, you lead across all technical disciplines in the DC, orchestrating building infrastructure, automation systems, digital/IT topics and contractor relationships to create an integrated approach to DC reliability. This role balances long-term planning with operational excellence to ensure all systems work harmoniously to support operations.

Your key assignments are:

• Lead and develop all technical teams (maintenance, automation, IT and facility)
• Ensure the building and ASRS (Automated Storage & Retrieval System) are in optimal condition at all times.
• Establish team action plan, budgets, and performance metrics
• Align maintenance activities and facility improvements with business requirements, developing yearly Facility & Maintenance Plan.
• Oversee critical equipment lifecycle planning and technology upgrade initiatives
• Review and approve contractor agreements and secure implementation at agreed service level.
• Develop emergency response protocols and business continuity plans
• Report key performance indicators to Distribution Unit Manager
• Drive continuous improvement and cost optimization across all technical areas, including automation (ASRS) and technical innovation.
• Collaborate with operations leadership on capacity planning and future needs

About the Job

You will work in a dynamic and international environment. In a small, 3-member micro-team with a Business Developer who negotiates prices and take care of the overall commercial relation with the suppliers and a Supply Planner who handles logistics. As part of the annual action plan, you will be responsible for the constant improvement of the quality of IKEA products as well as the production process and workflow through tools such as 5S, Lean, and machine capacity utilization. All with the aim of reducing production inefficiencies, in terms of sustainability and business ethics. You will also perform:

• Developing relationships with suppliers – the micro-team regularly travels to the field to understand and solve issues firsthand, we see production from the ground up, help with the implementation of action plans, and cooperate in audit processes,
• Data analytics – this will be a primary function and most of your office-hours.
• Operation – helping suppliers with entering up-to-date product documents into the system to secure compliance, resolving claims from A to Z, regular communication with suppliers (emails, calls), meetings with management and the team
