Role: Head of Global Freight Strategy & Portfolio (Agri-Commodities)
Location: Singapore (Central)
Reporting to: Executive Office / Board Level
About the role:
Our client is a global powerhouse in the integrated agri-commodity and specialty chemicals space. They are not looking for a traditional logistics manager to "move boxes." They are seeking a Commercial Freight Architect to lead their global containerized shipping portfolio. Reporting directly to the Executive Office, you will be responsible for transforming their logistics function from a cost center into a strategic competitive advantage.
Responsibilities:
This is a high-visibility, high-impact role designed for a professional who views freight as a volatile commodity. You will own the global container strategy for a multi-billion dollar business, ensuring that our supply chain is resilient, cost-effective, and ahead of market shifts.
Key Strategic Mandates:
Commercial Freight Procurement: Architect and execute a robust global pricing strategy. You will lead high-stakes negotiations directly with major Ocean Carriers and 4PL partners to secure optimal terms and space protection.
Freight Risk & Hedging: Utilize market intelligence and hedging tools to protect the business from maritime volatility. You aren't just buying freight; you are managing the financial risk associated with it.
Global Flow Optimization: Oversee complex, multi-modal movements (Container, ISO-Tank, and Flexibag) across global trade lanes, with a specific focus on navigating the regulatory nuances of Southeast Asian exports (ID/MY).
Executive Advisory: Act as the internal "Freight Economist" for the Board. Provide the market insights that allow our global trading desks to make informed, profitable commercial decisions.
Team Leadership: Modernize the existing logistics framework, mentoring a high-performing team to move beyond "execution" and toward "strategic value-add."
The Ideal Candidate:
10–15 years of heavyweight experience in global freight procurement or "Freight Desk" management within a major commodity house or top-tier global exporter.
You must "speak the language" of both the Liner industry (Maersk, MSC, ONE) and the technicalities of liquid bulk-in-container (ISO-Tanks/Flexibags).
Proven track record in freight rate hedging, contract of affreightment (COA) optimization, and navigating port disruptions/rollovers.
You have successfully managed senior stakeholders (Traders, MDs, Board Members) and can translate complex logistics data into clear commercial narratives.
