The QHSE Manager is responsible fordeveloping, implementing, and continuously improving the organisation’sQuality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) framework across alloperations.
This role ensures compliance withapplicable ISO standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices,while driving operational excellence, safety performance, and environmentalsustainability particularly in the deployment of autonomous and electricvehicles within cargo logistics operations.
The QHSE Manager will act as the lead internal auditor, overseeing ISO certifications and ensuring that systems, processes, and staff adhere to established standards.
1. Quality Management & Process Improvement
- Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Management Systems (QMS) aligned with ISO standards.
- Monitor operational performance metrics and KPIs to identify process inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives across control tower, vehicle operations, and engineering functions.
- Establish and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) across all departments.
2. ISO Compliance & Internal Audits
- Maintain and ensure compliance with relevant ISO standards, including:
- ISO 9001 (Quality Management)
- ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety)
- ISO 14001 (Environmental Management)
- ISO 27001 (Information Security) – where applicable
- Act as the Lead Internal Auditor:
- Plan and execute internal audit programs
- Identify non-conformities and drive corrective/preventive actions
- Prepare organisation for external certification audits
- Manage documentation control and ensure proper record-keeping.
3. Health & Safety Management
- Develop and enforce workplace safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct risk assessments (RA), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and hazard identification (HAZID) for:
- Autonomous vehicle operations
- Cargo handling activities
- Road and airfreight centre operations
- Lead incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements (e.g., MOM / WSH regulations).
- Conduct safety training, drills, and awareness programs for staff and contractors.
4. Environmental Management & Sustainability
- Develop and implement environmental policies aligned with ISO 14001.
- Monitor and report environmental performance, including:
- Carbon emissions reduction
- Energy consumption (EV charging optimisation)
- Waste management practices
- Drive sustainability initiatives, particularly leveraging electric and autonomous vehicle operations.
- Support reporting for ESG and sustainability metrics.
5. Operational Governance & Risk Management
- Establish governance frameworks for safe deployment of autonomous vehicles.
- Monitor compliance with operational and regulatory requirements (e.g., airport, LTA, client requirements).
- Identify operational risks (e.g., system failure, loss of signal, battery hazards) and implement mitigation measures.
- Work closely with Operations, Engineering, and IT teams to ensure safe and efficient execution.
6. Stakeholder Management & Reporting
Liaise with internal stakeholders (Operations, Engineering, HR, IT) to ensure QHSE alignment.
Engage with external stakeholders including:
- Clients
- Regulatory authorities
- Certification bodies
- Prepare and present QHSE reports, audit findings, and improvement plans to senior management.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in QHSE, Quality Management, or Safety roles.
- At least 3 years of experience in the cargo, logistics, or aviation-related industry.
- Proven experience in implementing and managing ISO-certified systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Bachelor’s Degree / Diplomain Engineering, Safety, Environmental Science, Logistics, or related field
