Senior Engineer - Utilities

The incumbent will provide direction and supervision to support utilities system maintenance and operation in compliance with cGMP, EHS, Data Integrity, and regulatory requirements for the Sterile manufacturing site

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the operation and maintenance of utilities and facilities systems, but not limited to WFI, RO, HVAC, chiller, boiler, air compressor, and nitrogen systems

As a Senior Equipment Engineer specializing in sputter media, you will be responsible for leading equipment sustaining, reliability, and continuous improvement activities to support high-volume hard disk media manufacturing. You will play a key role in driving equipment performance, improving operational efficiency, and supporting new technology implementation. This role requires strong technical leadership to guide technicians in maintaining stable manufacturing operations, reducing equipment downtime, and enabling next-generation product and process requirements.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead day-to-day equipment sustaining activities, including troubleshooting, failure analysis, and resolution of equipment-related production issues.
• Drive equipment reliability improvement initiatives to enhance equipment uptime, reduce chronic failures, and improve overall operational stability.
• Develop, implement, and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to improve long-term equipment performance.
• Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for major equipment failures and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
• Support equipment upgrades, hardware modifications, and machine conversion activities to meet product and technology roadmap requirements.
• Coordinate new equipment installation, commissioning, qualification, and acceptance to ensure systems meet operational and safety standards.
• Monitor and analyze equipment performance indicators such as OEE, MTBF, MTTR, and downtime trends to identify improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate closely with Process Engineering, Yield Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to improve process capability and manufacturing performance.
• Drive engineering projects related to equipment improvements, automation enhancement, and productivity optimization.
• Develop and maintain equipment documentation including SOPs, maintenance procedures, troubleshooting guides, and best practices.
• Work closely with OEM vendors and suppliers to resolve technical issues, implement upgrades, and support equipment technology development.
• Support cost reduction initiatives through engineering optimization, reliability improvements, and maintenance efficiency.
• Ensure all equipment operations comply with company safety policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean manufacturing, automation deployment, and digitalization programs.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Signalling Design Engineer - Senior (Ref. No. R1012094)

The Signalling Design Engineer performs hardware engineering activities required to develop and deliver a solution or product to an end customer.

He/she will be involved in:

• Design Documentation Updates
• Interfacing with subcontractors/customer
• Analyzing site and in-house issues and determining solutions
• Participating in technical reviews and customer technical meetings

This Signalling Design Engineer is member of the Engineering team, reports to Signalling Design Manager.

The Signalling Design Engineer collaborates with his/her peers including Project Design Authority, Project Managers, Procurement, Supply Chain, Installation and T&C Engineers.

This role will be involved with complex and difficult designs following established system engineering process 

• Transportation Project  ( Mainline , MRT, LRT )  
• Large projects requiring multiple international entities. 
• Understand Customer needs: operation, safety and maintenance
• Deliver on time and within budget

You will enjoy having these responsibilities:

• Translate Customer requirements into conceptual designs and prepare associated documentation by performing operational analyses, simulations and technical trade-off studies identifying alternative design configurations and functional features.
• Prepare, update, and review interface schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, block diagrams, I/O bitmaps, track scheme plans, cable routing designs, bill of materials, and other analysis required for design of signalling systems
• Support interface with other system wide contractors (eg. Platform Screen Doors, Civil, Trackworks, Comms, power, etc.) and write Interface Control Documents
• Prepare and review test procedures and support investigation of systems/sub-system issues raised during testing or during revenue service.
• Ensure safety is built into the design at each step.
• Supported by the Project Design Authority, deliver technical presentations to internal and external engineering/management groups in clear, complete, concise and non-ambiguous terms.
• Support technical proposals based on knowledge of past projects, customer requirements and signalling design principles.
• Support site activities such as surveys and investigations if the need for experts arises.
• Opportunity exists to support and learn about other hardware design domains within Hitachi Rail including trainborne, mechanical, networking, and power.

You have:

Job Description:

• Design, develop, and optimize high-voltage and RF power electronics used for plasma ignition, sustainment, and modulation.
• Create detailed electrical schematics, PCB layouts, block diagrams, and system architecture for plasma lighting drivers and control circuits.
• Provide technical support to the plasma lighting Test & Maintenance team to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with process engineering and production teams to improve productivity.
• Support QA in conducting failure analysis.
• Design and develop NPI (New Product Introduction) products for global customers.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field. An advanced degree is an advantage.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in electrical engineering, with a strong focus on power electronics, RF systems, or high-voltage design.
• Direct experience with plasma lighting, gas discharge systems, RF-driven lamps, or related plasma technologies is preferred.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes for plasma arc lighting devices.
• Experience in power electronics and control circuit design.
• Knowledge of EMI/EMC considerations in lighting systems.
• Willingness to travel regularly (e.g., weekly) to Batam to oversee production activities and support NPI projects.
