About this role

The Procurement Engineer is responsible for leading and executing sourcing and procurement activities for complex process automation projects, combining engineering knowledge with commercial expertise. The role is responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of technically compliant materials, equipment, and services, aligned with project specifications and quality standards. The Procurement Engineer will work closely with Project Execution, Sales, and Supply Chain teams to support large-scale project execution, mitigate technical risks, and ensure optimal supplier selection. · To source potential suppliers in line with specification / Sending Request for Quotations (RFQs)

· To evaluate and update new/existing vendors into Approved Vendor List

· To coordinate with Project Team and Suppliers for any technical clarification

· To perform negotiations with short listed supplier(s) for the best price with timely delivery

· To ensure the appropriate terms and conditions are specified on the purchase order

· To prepare Bidtabs for Approval

· To prepare Purchaser's Terms & Conditions for purchases more than SGD 150K

· To coordinate with Project Team for any urgent purchase

· To arrange Training (Introduction & Product Presentation from Vendors

· To process order and ensure timely delivery from the vendor

· To coordinate with Material/Logistic Controllers for GR/GI issues, if required

· To assist Finance for invoices with issues

· To assist in expediting for deliveries if required

· To send Approved Purchase Order to Vendor

· To co-orodinate with Vendor for any return or replacement of defective mater

Requirements

Procurement Engineer (Fabrications)

- Manage component sourcing on Mechanical Sheet Metal commodities

- Overall ownership to drive cost reduction and value creation initiatives through negotiations, alternate sourcing, localizations, VAVE, supplier consolidations

- Establish wide supplier network to facilitate both Sourcing and Procurement activities, leading strategic relationship with critical suppliers

 - Identify redesign cost reduction opportunities

- Drive component lead time improvement, Payment terms, delivery terms, MOQ/SPQ reduction and Optimizations

-Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships to meet quality, cost, delivery and capacity requirement

-Collaborate closely with Engineering, operations and product team, plan & drive execution of all Procurement & Sourcing activities.

-Monitor global market trend and implement proactive risk mitigation and contingency Strategies on EOL, Single source parts

- Provide part & tool cost assessment during NPI, ECN phase

- Interface with Engineering on design review/ECN/Part changes & provide resolutions on all technical issues.

Requirements:

-Possess good experience in handing Metal Fabrications, Plastics Tool & Die

-Min 5 -7 years of relevant work experience in Sourcing field

Duty and Responsibility:

1. Procurement engineers oversee the purchase of technical equipment for industrial operations.

2. They collaborate with designers/Site to determine the equipment needed to complete manufacturing or construction projects according to specifications, research vendors for that equipment, then order it.

3. These engineers negotiate purchase agreements with vendors and award contracts to vendors for equipment.

4. They also monitor any adjustments to the equipment needed to maintain an optimum supply of equipment to complete projects on time and within budget.

5. A procurement engineer must possess high-level organization and record-keeping skills to maintain a consistent flow of equipment to the company’s factories or worksites and ensure vendors are fulfilling the terms of their contracts. Influencing and negotiation skills are also crucial for procurement engineers, as it’s up to them to negotiate the purchasing agreements for engineering equipment and hire vendors for projects.
