About The Role

Position Overview

Google is transforming how hyper-scale data centers are planned, designed, and built from custom, stick-built, multi-year construction monoliths to manufactured, modular, just-in-time deployments of fungible capacity. The Product Development and Insertion (PDI) organization under Data Center Technology and Systems (DCTS) is the execution arm of the development of such fungible capacity. PDI, working alongside the different pillars within DCTS, drives and provides ownership of the various products and programs that will enable the future modular technology for Google Cloud.

Job responsibilities

• Execute scope for the cross-functional product development of new products and programs. Guide products through the product life cycle process.
• Work with the partner teams across data centers, with supply chain, construction and execution teams, hardware and software operations to help execute product insertions.
• Lead the Site Intercept process, assess specific data center sites for their ability to adopt emerging design configurations. Align, plan and deliver Data Center design delivery.
• Develop and execute Tech Insertion Cut-In Framework that defines the "Point of No Return" for design changes based on construction schedules and supply chain lead times.
• Orchestrate cross-functional efforts, provide executive decision support, and refine processes to accelerate time-to-decision. Execute scope for cross-functional product development of new products and programs, stretching to address undefined challenges with limited guidance.

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in program management.
• Experience in Data Center Engineering and product design.

Preferred qualifications

• Certifications like MSP or MOR.
• Experience in technical and product program management.
• Experience managing risk of product and programs, implementing mitigation plans.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and work in a fluid environment.
• Ability to influence cross-functional team members and stakeholders.

Responsibility:    

• Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables with government stakeholders.
• Oversee service providers to ensure contractual responsibilities are met and manage vendor relationships.
• Oversee day-to-day system operations to meetbusiness objectives on uptime and availability.
• Lead and drive ops-tech sessions to facilitate project planning and execution
• Coordinate and track multiple projects across steams, ensuring timely completion
• Lead and coordinate procurement activities including contract renewals and licenses
• Coordinate system security audits and vulnerability assessments
• Lead and facilitate collaboration between development and technology teams
• Develop and maintain project schedules, statuses, and reports
• Lead regular meetings to update senior leadership and stakeholders on progress and challenges
• Manage and monitor project plans to ensure successful completion within schedule, scope and budget
• Implement processes covering issue management, change control, documentation management and quality assurance
• Assist the CIO in identifying digital transformation opportunities

Requirements:      

• Degree in a relevant IT field with 5+ years of experience in project management, preferably in technology environment
• PMP or equivalent project management certification
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Experience in managing system implementation and maintenance projects using Agile methodology
• Experience in budget management, cost optimization, and financial planning
• Team player with strong analytical, problem-solving, and influencing skills
• Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies
• Experience facilitating collaboration between diverse teams
