They are looking for a Proximity Developer (Dev Prox) to support Risk, P&L, and Pricing systems used by energy traders, in Singapore.
The role sits close to the trading desks, providing both development and production support for applications that calculate pricing, risk exposure, and daily P&L across energy trading activities.
The developer will work with traders, quantitative analysts, and IT teams to ensure accuracy, stability, and performance of pricing and risk calculations used in the trading environment.
Key Responsibilities
Front-Office Development
- Develop and enhance applications supporting energy trading activities (power, gas, LNG, carbon markets).
- Build and maintain tools used by traders risk managers, and analysts.
- Implement enhancements requested by trading desks to improve trading workflows and analytics.
Risk & P&L Systems
- Maintain and improve systems responsible for daily P&L calculation and risk monitoring.
- Investigate and resolve P&L discrepancies and risk calculation issues.
- Ensure accuracy of exposure calculations across trading portfolios.
Pricing Library Development
- Maintain and enhance pricing libraries used to value energy derivatives and physical trading contracts.
- Integrate quantitative models developed by quants and risk teams.
- Improve performance and scalability of pricing calculations.
Production Support
- Provide Level 2 / Level 3 support for front-office trading applications.
- Troubleshoot issues affecting pricing, P&L calculations, and risk reports.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive fixes.
Collaboration with Trading Teams
- Work closely with:
- Energy traders
- Risk management teams
- Quantitative analysts
- Platform engineering teams
- Act as a bridge between business users and IT teams.
Required Skills
Technical
- Strong programming skills in Python, .Net
- Experience developing pricing or risk calculation systems
- Strong knowledge of SQL and data analysis
- Knowledge of quantitative pricing models: Black-Scholes and/or Monte Carlo methods
Functional Knowledge
- Understanding of trading environments (energy trading, commodities trading, or financial markets)
- Knowledge of risk metrics and P&L calculations
- Exposure to trading platforms or ETRM systems is a plus
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work directly with traders in fast-paced environments
- Good communication skills with both technical and business stakeholders
- Ability to manage urgent production issues
Experience
- 0-2 years of experience in software development within a banking or financial markets environment
- Experience supporting front-office applications or trading systems
- Experience in energy trading, commodities trading, or capital markets is highly desirable
