This role is critical to managing client interactions while monitoring performance versus program requirements.

Key Responsibilities 

• Act as the primary relationship manager for designated Market Maker and Liquidity Development participants 
  

• Build trusted, long-term partnerships with trading firms, proprietary trading houses, banks, and specialist market makers 
  

• Gain a thorough understanding of Abaxx Market Development Program structure, client trading strategies, risk appetites, operational requirements, including infrastructure set up 
  

• Work closely with Product Leads, CMO and Legal to launch new programs and revise existing programs to continuously deepen market liquidity while meeting budget constraints and business objectives  
  

• Manage the rollout of any new program revisions, which includes socialising the new program parameters with participants before revising the program rules with legal, and then formally rolling out the new program on an agreed date 
  

• Monitor market maker performance against program requirements (eg. Max Spread, Min Quantity, Min Volume thresholds etc) 
  

• Actively seek market feedbackto optimize participation and ensure alignment between client objectives and exchange market quality goals 
  

• In exceptional market conditions, collaborate with internal stakeholders to temporarily adjust program parameters eg. widen spreads, following consultation with market participants, to ensure continuous liquidity

Mid Market Business Development Manager (Ports & Terminals)

Location: Australia (Remote Work)

A leading maritime safety and sustainability solutions provider is seeking a Business Development to drive growth across the Oceania region. This is a highly commercial new business “hunter” role (≈95% focused on new logo acquisition), centred on expanding market share and delivering improved safety, environmental, and social outcomes through innovative solutions.

Working closely with the Head of APAC, you will lead new business initiatives and aggressively identify, engage, and convert new customers across the maritime ecosystem—including Port Call Optimization and Operations Platform, Maritime Data Analytics & Market Intelligence, Voyage, Fuel & Commercial Optimization Tools and Maritime Platform, Infra & Workflow systems.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product, to ensure a compelling and competitive value proposition, while driving commercial engagements and long-term strategic partnerships.

Key Responsibilities Strategy & Planning

• Identify priority growth areas and support the execution of business development strategies
• Assess market opportunities and contribute to new product and service development
• Set and deliver short- to mid-term business objectives aligned with regional goals
• Develop commercial business cases, including growth strategies, financial analysis, and reporting
• Leverage data and tools to support strategic decision-making

Business Development & Sales (Hunter Focus)

• Drive new logo acquisition and revenue growth across the APAC region
• Proactively prospect, identify, and engage new clients across targeted maritime segments
• Build and manage a strong sales pipeline, achieving growth, ROI, and productivity targets
• Lead client outreach, meetings, and commercial negotiations to close deals
• Present compelling value propositions and gather market insights to refine offerings
• Ensure smooth onboarding and handover to internal teams post-sale

Stakeholder Management

• Develop and execute client engagement and relationship strategies
• Communicate business offerings and strategic direction to key stakeholders
• Monitor client organisations and manage relationships proactively
• Collaborate internally to ensure seamless transition from sales to delivery and account management

Requirements

• Proven track record in new business acquisition (“hunter” sales) and revenue growth
• Strong ability to build relationships and establish credibility quickly
• Experience expanding market presence and executing commercial strategies
• Ability to operate independently and drive regional growth
• Experience in Maritime SaaS, PaaS, or technology-led solutions is advantageous
• Strong commercial acumen with a data-driven mindset
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills
• Fluency in English (spoken and written)
• Passion for improving safety, environmental, and social sustainability in the maritime industry
