• Oversee the daily operations of the engineering department, including preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Ensure the property’s facilities and equipment are in optimal working condition.
• Manage, supervise, and mentor the engineering team.
• Develop and implement maintenance schedules for all systems and equipment.
• Monitor and control departmental budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
• Perform regular inspections of the property’s mechanical systems and infrastructure.
• Collaborate with the Director of Engineering on long-term projects, such as renovations and upgrades.
• Ensure compliance with local safety and environmental regulations.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
• Respond to emergency situations in a timely and efficient manner.
• Provide training to engineering staff on operational procedures, safety protocols, and maintenance techniques.

What you will be doing

Oversee building systems, preventative maintenance programs, compliance, project, and asset lifecycle management. This is a highly visible leadership role requiring strong technical capability, commercial thinking and the ability to lead and inspire a skilled Engineering team.

• Lead and manage the hotel’s Engineering department
• Drive a proactive preventative maintenance strategy to protect asset quality and reduce downtime
• Ensure full compliance with workplace health & safety, building regulations and statutory requirements
• Oversee plant, equipment and building systems, including HVAC, electrical, hydraulics and fire systems
• Manage external contractors, service agreements and engineering budgets
• Lead capital works, refurbishment projects and asset improvement initiatives
• Work closely with operational leaders to ensure engineering supports seamless guest experiences
• Develop and mentor the engineering team, fostering a culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement
• Support energy management, sustainability and efficiency initiatives
• Respond to guest and operational issues with urgency, professionalism and practical solutions

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Operational Leadership

• Oversee all construction operations, projects, manpower, and resources across the company.
• Develop and execute strategic plans to support business growth and project success.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, safety standards, and company policies.
• Implement operational improvements to enhance productivity and efficiency.

Project & Team Management

• Lead, mentor, and motivate Project Directors, Managers, Engineers, and Site Teams.
• Review project performance, progress, cost control, and risk management.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and at expected quality standards.
• Resolve high-level issues and support project teams in decision-making.

Financial & Business Management

• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance for all construction projects.
• Work closely with management on tender reviews, cost strategies, and business development.
• Manage client relationships and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Review contracts, variations, claims, and major project documentation.

Stakeholder & Client Engagement

• Represent the company in meetings with clients, consultants, authorities, and external partners.
• Strengthen long-term relationships to support future project opportunities.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 20 years of relevant construction experience, with at least 10 years in a senior management or general manager role.
• Proven track record overseeing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong knowledge of Singapore construction regulations, safety requirements, and industry practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and people management skills.
• Strong business acumen, problem-solving skills, and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage complex operations.
