Job Summary

A postdoctoral research fellow position in the areas of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) for spatial omics and precision medicine is available at the Loo Lab in the Bioinformatics Institute (BII), A*STAR, Singapore. The group develops next generation spatial omics assays, cellular phenotype analysis methods, and machine learning models to predict patient drug responses. The group also develops and manages the HistoPath Analytics (HPA) Platform and ImmunoAtlas (https://ImmunoAtlas.org) for automated management, visualization, and analysis of large multiplex tissue images and spatial multi omics data. 

The successful candidate will be part of an interdisciplinary team working on the development of new biomarkers, and metabolomics data analysis methods for cancer diagnosis and precision medicine. His/her main responsibility is to develop and apply novel AI and ML models and methods for analyzing mass spectrometry data (LC/MS and MSI), large multiplex tissue images, and spatial transcriptomics data collected from cancer patients. The candidate will also perform computational algorithm implementation and benchmarking, present research findings at international conferences, and publish in high-impact scientific journals. The candidate will have the opportunity to work in a highly stimulating environment, and collaborate closely with biologists, physicians, and pathologists. Senior candidate with relevant previous experience may also have the opportunity to plan and lead new projects.

Qualifications:

• PhD or Master in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Chemical Engineering, Molecular and Cell Biology, Cancer Biology, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Python and R programming languages.
• Strong background in AI/ML modelling, statistics, and data analysis and visualization. Experience with deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) for image analysis and data modelling is required.
• Basic knowledge of molecular biology, cancer biology, metabolism, and immunology is required.
• Previous experience in analyzing metabolomics and/or multiplex tissue image is highly desirable.
• Good spoken and written communication skills, especially for the preparation of scientific manuscripts and reports.
• The ability to work effectively in a collaborative team setting.

The Financial Services ARM is responsible for the quality of enhanced due diligence reports produced for financial services clients. He/she will be responsible for a team of researchers to ensure that they produce clear, analytical and exceptionally well-written reports which help financial services Clients in the Asia Pacific region meet compliance and regulatory requirement.

He/she will be responsible for a range of tasks, including conducting scoping research, preparing proposal drafts, engaging with financial services clients to understand their requirements and answer follow up questions, managing enhanced due diligence reports to support major banking transactions such as IPOs and debt issuance, conducting desktop research and discreet interviews himself/herself, and reviewing and finalizing the reports drafted by junior researchers. • Assist in the proposal process, conduct scoping research, and communicate with clients to understand their requirements

• Conduct Research on AI-Aided Fuzzing: Lead research efforts to explore the integration of large language models (LLMs) with fuzzing techniques for identifying security vulnerabilities in systems. Established in 2010, the Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N) is a pan-university research institute that focuses on systems-level research for tropical megacities. It performs translational research that covers the energy value chain from generation to innovative end-use solutions, motivated by industrialization and deployment. ERI@N has multiple Interdisciplinary Research Programmes which focus on translational Research, Development & Deployment which focus on specific area of the energy value chain, and a number of Living labs and Testbeds which facilitate large scale technology deployment enabling validation and demonstration of real-world applications.

The Research Fellow will work in a project context whose ultimate objective is to develop technologies for validating AV behaviour at a system level.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the technical aspects of the project and ensure that the deliverables are delivered on time.

• Manage stakeholder’s expectations.

• Validate project goals against existing technical standards and identify gaps and propose research activities required to fill these gaps.

• Perform analysis, lab and field testing on sensors and sensor systems.

• Organize meetings and intermediate technical progress reviews.

• Make presentations to partners.

Job Requirements:

• Holder of an engineering PhD, preferably in the field of science, engineering, complex systems or control with a good understanding of sensors and sensor systems.

• Strong analysis skills and a good understanding of sensors and vehicle systems and driving behaviours of these systems.

• Knowledge of the stakes and system safety challenges associated with the validation of autonomous vehicles is preferred.

• Skills in using simulation for system design validation.

• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

• With analytical skills, strong autonomy and team spirit, the research fellow will have to demonstrate a keen sense of organization and perform the tasks assigned to him/her rigorously.

• Ability to work as a Research Fellow, reporting on progress and communicating results.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work to achieve objectives and deliver results with a short term, operational focus.
• Carry out investigation of user reported issues, formulate and agree terms of reference.
• To prepare user requirement specifications for the issues that requires application development resources.
• To prepare Test Plan, perform testing on the application, manage/monitor UAT to ensure timely and quality deliverables.
• To manage and plan out assigned project or enhancement timeline.
• Able to communicate and manage vendor & solution team to ensure a smooth delivery of project and enhancements on time.
• Explain facts, practices, and policies to others within the department.
• Gather user requirements, and conduct feasibility study.
• Escalate problems/issues to respective team leader.
• Check problems in existing systems or processes.
• Raise data extraction requests in order to identify possible causes of the issues.
• Work with system team to produce Issue Analysis report to users and software and to recommend solutions, where applicable.

REQUIREMENT:

• Minimum 4 years’ experience in Business Analyst role
• Good to have insurance domain exposure/experience.
• Have knowledge and experience in SDLC cycle and implementation.
• Experience with Java and other internet technologies will be advantageous.
• Good analytical and listening skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Possess good working attitude and self-motivated to learn. Able to get along with everyone, maintaining good relationships at all levels from senior management to junior staff.
• Good organization skills with sound time management.

• Responsible for development of robust and reliable sensor fusion algorithms for localization and navigation algorithms of robot in complex dynamic environments.
