As the Global Category Manager – Raw Materials, you will play a pivotal role in shaping Asahi’s strategic direction across its global raw materials portfolio. You will lead the development and execution of category strategies that enhance value, strengthen supply resilience, and support Asahi’s long-term sustainability ambitions.

You will drive sourcing excellence, innovation, and responsible procurement practices across key raw materials used in brewing and beverage production. As part of the newly formed Global Procurement Office, you will help establish a world-class, future-ready procurement function that creates measurable value for the business, our suppliers, and our communities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of global category strategies across critical raw materials to optimise value, sustainability, quality, and security of supply.
• Drive sustainable procurement and innovation initiatives aligned with Asahi’s global sustainability roadmap, responsible sourcing commitments, and environmental targets.
• Manage strategic supplier relationships to ensure performance, quality assurance, transparency, and continuous improvement across raw material supply chains.
• Oversee strategic sourcing activities, including market analysis, negotiations, contracting, and risk mitigation to safeguard supply and enhance commercial outcomes.
• Partner with regional and cross-functional stakeholders to align business needs, share best practices, and build strong global collaboration across markets.
• Implement governance, compliance, and risk-management frameworks to protect brand reputation and ensure ethical, traceable, and compliant sourcing practices.
• Manage category budgets, KPIs, and value delivery metrics to achieve strong commercial and sustainability performance.
• Lead, coach, and develop procurement talent, fostering capability growth and a high-performance culture across the global procurement organisation.

About you

• University degree in Business or related field (Master’s preferred).
• Extensive experience in procurement and category management within raw materials.
• Strong leadership experience in an international multinational company
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and supplier collaboration skills.
• Strategic thinker with a passion for innovation and environmental impact.
• Experience with procurement platform SAP Ariba highly regarded and advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite.
• Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all project installation and engineering works, including personnel mobilization and progress monitoring.

• Coordinate with customers, consultants, main contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers throughout project implementation.

• Manage site activities, vendors, and subcontractors, ensuring project milestones are met and deliveries are on schedule.

• Plan, supervise, and control project operations, including cost re-estimation, manpower planning, and work scheduling.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and building owners.

• Prepare monthly updates and reports on operational status, progress, and related issues.

Purpose of the Role:

The Senior Procurement Manager is responsible for leading and optimizing the procurement strategy to support the company’s operation in trade exhibitions, event and conference management and venue maintenance. The role ensures cost-effective sourcing, timely delivery, and compliance with internal and external policies, directly impacting the success and profitability of events.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management

• Develop and implement sourcing strategies for all procurement categories supporting exhibition, events, conference and venue maintenance.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure service reliability and cost competitiveness.

Contract Negotiation & Management

• Lead contract negotiations with suppliers and vendors to achieve favourable terms.
• Monitor contract performance and ensure compliance with agreed SLAs.

Cost Optimization

• Analyze market trends to identify opportunities for cost reduction and improved service delivery.

Risk & Compliance Management

• Ensure procurement activities adhere to legal and ethical standards, including supplier due diligence.
• Maintain documentation and records for audits and quality assurance.

Team & Stakeholder Collaboration

• Collaborate cross-functionally with event managers, marketing, and finance to align procurement activities with project needs.
• Manage and mentor any junior procurement staff or coordinators.

Process Improvement & Reporting

• Drive procurement process improvements and automation where feasible.
• Provide regular reports on procurement performance, savings achieved, and supplier performance.

Qualifications and Experience

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.

Experience:

• Minimum 10 years of procurement experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or managerial role.
• Proven experience in the MICE industry is highly preferred.
• Strong vendor negotiation skills and experience managing multi-million-dollar procurement budgets.
• Demonstrated ability to manage procurement for multiple simultaneous projects with tight deadlines.

• Deep understanding of procurement processes, contract law, and vendor management.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
