You will drive technical innovation in medium- and high-voltage power electronics for applications including data center electrification, utility-scale renewables, microgrids, EV charging infrastructure, and smart grid systems. This senior role involves end-to-end technical ownership—from control strategy definition and system modeling to real-time software implementation, validation, and field deployment—while mentoring junior engineers and influencing technology roadmap decisions.

Key Responsibilities

· Lead the development and optimization of real-time control algorithms for Solid State Transformers (multi-stage, multilevel, and resonant topologies) and grid-connected inverters operating in both grid-forming and grid-following modes.

· Architect and implement robust embedded software and firmware (C/C++) for DSP, FPGA, and multi-core microcontroller platforms, ensuring high-performance bi-directional power flow, fault management, and seamless grid interaction.

· Define and execute system-level modeling and simulation strategies using MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD/EMTDC, or similar tools; drive automatic code generation and model-based design workflows for production systems.

· Lead renewable energy integration efforts, including PV, wind, and energy storage systems, with advanced techniques such as virtual synchronous machines (VSM), hierarchical power management, droop control, inertia emulation, and compliance with stringent grid codes (IEEE 1547, IEC 61727/62116, Grid Code requirements).

· Oversee Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL), Power-Hardware-in-the-Loop (PHIL), and Controller Hardware-in-the-Loop (CHIL) testing campaigns; lead performance validation, stability analysis, and certification activities.

· Provide technical leadership across cross-functional teams (hardware, systems, test, and firmware) on protection schemes, communication architectures (IEC 61850, Modbus TCP, DNP3, OPC-UA), cybersecurity, and functional safety.

· Mentor and guide junior control/software engineers; conduct design reviews, establish best practices, and drive continuous improvement of the control software platform and architecture.

· Identify and solve complex technical challenges related to harmonics, resonance, grid disturbances, renewable intermittency, and high-power SiC/GaN-based converters.

· Contribute to R&D strategy, intellectual property (patents), technical publications, and product roadmap planning to maintain technology leadership in SST and renewable integration.

Required Qualifications

· Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Control Systems, or a related field (PhD strongly preferred).

· 7+ years of hands-on industry experience in control and embedded software development for high-power power electronics, with direct involvement in inverters, DC-DC converters, or Solid State Transformers.

· Demonstrated expertise in:

o Advanced control techniques (Model Predictive Control, resonant controllers, adaptive control, PLL/synchronization algorithms, dq0-frame and stationary-frame control).

o Real-time embedded programming (C/C++, RTOS, bare-metal) and FPGA firmware (VHDL/Verilog).

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and customize  eFX trading platforms/systems based on front-office user requirements;
• Resolve application and data-level issues within legacy financial systems;
• Implement functional enhancements and change requests in coordination with business users;
• Follow secure coding guidelines and ensure compliance with IT risk controls;
• Manage proactive remediation, patching, and cloud monitoring of supported platforms;
• Engage with users and stakeholders to deliver effective and timely solutions;
• Actively contribute to sprint planning, retrospectives, and process improvement initiatives.

Key Experiences and Qualifications We Seek Educational Background: ● Diploma or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Professional Experience: ● 3–5+ years of relevant experience in application support, systems support, or operations roles. ● Experience supporting production systems in a high-availability or mission-critical environment. Technical Expertise: ● Strong hands-on experience with: ○ Application log analysis and monitoring tools (e.g. AWS CloudWatch, Grafana, ELK, Google Analytics, etc) ○ Linux/Unix environments ● Working knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g. AWS services such as ECS, Lambda, S3, RDS). ● Basic database knowledge (MySQL, PostgreSQL) for health checks and simple queries. ● Basic knowledge on REST APIs, system integrations and authentication design ● Understanding of incident, problem, and change management processes. Problem-Solving Skills: ● Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. ● Ability to break down complex incidents into clear, actionable steps. ● Calm and methodical approach when handling production issues under pressure. Operational Practices: ● Familiarity with ticketing and incident management tools (e.g. Jira, PagerDuty). ● Experience working with runbooks, SOPs, and on-call support rotations (if applicable). Additional Skills (Bonus Points): ● Experience supporting cloud-native or microservices-based systems. ● Basic scripting skills (e.g. Bash, Python) for automation. ● Experience working in government, regulated, or large-scale enterprise environments. ● Knowledge of disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
