The National Quantum Federated Foundry (NQFF) is seeking a research engineer to join a multidisciplinary team developing essential quantum hardware and device components. The candidate will join our efforts spanning multiple quantum technology platforms ranging from trapped ions to integrated photonics and superconducting devices.

About the role

You will be embedded in a team of research scientists and engineers, contributing hands-on to the development and characterisation of quantum hardware. Based on your strengths and experience, your work will be shaped around one or more of the following focus areas:

• Device Fabrication & Engineering — Perform device fabrication and support the development and optimisation of the processes: this may include cleanroom-based nanofabrication work, electrical assembly (wirebonding, soldering, etc), and prototyping (machining, 3D printing, etc).
• Optical & Photonics Engineering — Perform optical & electrical characterization of photonics devices; construct and maintain optical measurement setups for device testing; data analysis and feedback towards improved device designs.

What we’re looking for:

Primary Purpose:

A Senior Performance Analysis Engineer will serve as a technical domain owner while delivering capabilities in support of maintaining a high level of system quality and vehicle behavior for our autonomous driving technology. As we continue to grow, we seek a dedicated and skilled Senior Technician (6-12 Months Contract) to join our team.

Job Responsibilities:

• Attend site jobs to service and maintain gas detection systems, water monitoring instrumentation, and wastewater autosamplers.
• Perform in-house repairs and calibrations for returned gas detectors.
• Efficiently manage and issue service reports, ensuring accurate bookkeeping.
• Maintained workshop cleanliness and ensured materials were tidy and organized post-job completion.
• Work flexibly to meet customer needs, including early site visits or extended hours for urgent tasks.

Requirements:

• Minimum ITE in Engineering or a related field.
• Proficiency in English and strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating problem-solving skills and initiative.
• Commitment to maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
• Flexibility in work hours to accommodate early site visits or extended hours as needed.

Working Hours:

• Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
• Rest days: Saturday and Sunday.
• Note: Business needs may require flexibility in working hours.

This position will be responsible for providing quality repair and carrying out preventive maintenance service of etch / clean / deposition equipment at customer sites. Other activities include installation, relocation of customer equipment, performing associated start-up and check-out activities.

• Install and/or relocate equipment at customers’ sites. Conduct associated start-up, cut over and check-out activities on the newly installed systems
• Provide warranty tool support or paid service for out-of-warranty tool by performing on-site general preventive maintenance of equipment and attending to equipment abnormalities. Co-ordinate all service actions with customer to minimize downtime or system interruptions
• Apply troubleshooting techniques to eliminate equipment malfunctions. Conduct diagnostic procedures to isolate problem. Assess severity of malfunctions and determine corrective actions required or escalate for assistance and prompt resolution. When necessary, replace defective units, components or parts where appropriate
• Liaise and co-ordinate with customers in relation to short-term defect work
• Implement field modifications or updates as released in Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) which may involve removal and installation of assemblies, sub-assemblies, systems and subsystems
• Carry out Tier 2 process qualification work
• Prepare and maintain accurate logs, service records, part usage documentation, diagnostic updates and other management reports
• Professionally represent the company to the customer. Utilize knowledge of company’s product lines and services to keep existing / potential customers informed when new/additional needs are identified
• Develop good customer relations during installation and execution of service contracts
• Maintain company’s assigned equipment (computer, tool kit, diagnostic test equipment, spare parts etc) in good working condition, secure and accounted for
• Ensure safe working condition at work site
• Any other duties as assigned by the Immediate Supervisor

Job Requirements

• Engineering degree or equivalent
• Good communication and interpersonal relations skill
• Able to actively engage customers on technical solutions
• Able to work in Fab environment and perform shift & standby duties
• Must be able to wear personal protective clothing which comprises of air respirator equipment, clean room garments and safety shoes
• Willing to support short term, overseas assignment
