The Laboratory of Applied Human Genetics at the National Cancer Centre Singapore is a multidisciplinary laboratory with specific focus on peritoneal and sarcoma malignancies. The direction of our laboratory is to solve real-world clinical problems via sound scientific translation. Since the conception of our laboratory seven years ago, we have established three scientific pillars — Therapeutics, Companion Diagnostics, and the CAPTIVATE (Target Generation) pipeline. Digital Supply Chain Group of the Digital Manufacturing Division at the ARTC is searching for a Senior Development Scientist who will lead and support projects in Supply Chain innovation using advanced data analytics, Generative AI and SOTA AI

Responsibilities:

1.      Deliver tangible outcomes in technical projects: e.g:

-          Develop new, bespoke, accurate, and fast algorithms to solve Supply Chain optimization and prediction problems.

-          Implement state-of-the-art approaches and bring them to industry-readiness status.

2.      Lead technical efforts in data analytics, Generative AI and SOTA AI research by providing effective tech leadership in problem definition and solution design. Key skillsets include Statistical Analysis, Neural Network Frameworks, GANs (Generative Adversarial Networks), Natural Language Processing, Data Generation and Augmentation, Hyperparameter Tuning.  

3.      Continuously develop personal technical skillsets to ensure technical relevance.

4.      Domain knowledge (aerospace, energy, land transport, logistics, etc.) for the specific context of operational research.

5.      Abide by software development processes and procedures to ensure high quality of deliverables.

6.      Assist in securing industry projects and research grants through stakeholder engagements.

Job Requirements:

·       Good interpersonal and communication (verbal & written) skills.

·       Doctoral degree in Computer Engineering, Computer science, Supply Chain Analytics, or Business Analytics.

·       Strong skills in mathematical problem definition, algorithm design, scientific computing, statistic modeling and analytics, and real-world problem solving.

·       Strong scientific programming background (e.g. Pyton, C, C++, etc.) with familiarity with machine learning frameworks (e.g. TensorFlow/Pytorch/Scikit-learn).  

·       Prior experience with supply chain optimisation (e.g., fleet planning, network design, scheduling) is preferrable.
·       More than 5 years of experience

·       A publication track record in Industry 4.0-related topics, e.g., Gen-Ai, optimisation, machine learning/deep learning, etc.

Job Description

We are seeking a talented Visiting Research Fellow to join the National Centre for Engineering Biology, Singapore (NCEB), at the National University of Singapore. NCEB aims to advance engineering biology by developing microbial cells that enable biomanufacturing.

The Visiting Research Fellow (RF) will work closely with the Principal Investigator and research team to develop robust microbial cell platforms for biomanufacturing. The RF will design and implement strain engineering strategies, optimise metabolic pathways and cultivation conditions, and generate high-quality experimental data.

Key Responsibilities: 
1. Design, build, and characterise engineered microbial strains for production of target molecules (e.g., enzymes, chemicals, or biomaterials).
2. Develop and optimise genetic constructs and genome engineering workflows (e.g., CRISPR, recombineering, plasmid design, promoter/RBS tuning).
3. Perform metabolic pathway design and optimisation using rational design and/or high-throughput approaches; analyse data to identify bottlenecks and improvement opportunities.
4. Develop and apply analytical assays (e.g., HPLC/GC, LC-MS, plate-based assays) to quantify key metabolites.
5. Document and communicate results through lab records, reports, and presentations; contribute to manuscripts, protocols, and (where applicable) invention disclosures.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will:
1. Hold a PhD in Synthetic Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
2. Demonstrated experience in microbial strain engineering and molecular biology (e.g., cloning, genome editing, strain construction and verification).
3. Strong experimental design and data analysis skills, with the ability to interpret results and troubleshoot across the build-test-learn cycle.

Highly desirable:
1. Hands-on experience with fermentation/bioreactors and bioprocess development (media optimisation, feeding strategies, scale-down models).
2. Experience with omics/automation tools (e.g., RNA-seq, proteomics, metabolomics, high-throughput screening).
