To work as directed within relevant plant sections to product, with optimum efficiency and safety,

a. Main Tasks
▪ Maintain section in a safe, neat and clean operating condition at all times

Oaks Port Douglas Resort are looking for an experienced Conference, Sales & Events Manager to join their team on a full-time basis. 

As the Conference, Sales & Events Manager, you will be responsible for leading the Events Team while managing the full sales and event lifecycle from enquiry through to execution. This role plays a key part in driving revenue, achieving conferencing and events targets, and maximising profitability across all events, weddings, conferences, and social functions.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Qualify event enquiries, ensuring business aligns with availability, strategy, and revenue goals
• Drive sales performance through proactive follow-up, conversion of enquiries, and client relationship management
• Identify key need periods and implement promotional strategies to maximise revenue opportunities
• Prepare proposals, negotiate contracts, and ensure all events are costed to achieve profitability targets
• Monitor event profitability, including managing costs, preparing P&L reporting, and ensuring budgets are met and exceeded
• Maintain accurate sales activity reporting, including conversions, lost business, and pipeline tracking
• Conduct site inspections, client meetings, and actively pursue new business opportunities
• Coordinate and oversee events end-to-end, including being onsite where required to ensure successful delivery
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring exceptional service and seamless event execution
• Liaise with internal departments and external vendors to deliver high-quality events aligned with brand standards
• Actively promote conferencing, events, and food & beverage offerings in line with the annual strategic marketing plan
• Act as a problem solver, managing issues before, during, and after events to ensure client satisfaction

• Perform basic laboratory test as per accordance with approved test methods or procedures.
• Assisting Chemist / Microbiologist in carrying out laboratory testing, method development and compliance with QA/QC requirement.
• Ensure Good Housekeeping and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) in the laboratory.
• Ensure the sample preparation equipment are used and maintained in proper way.
• Adhere to group HSE safety procedures.
• Make sure all relevant raw data or test information to be correctly and accurately recorded in the provided raw data sheet or manual log book.
• To comply with all Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) local regulation (Occupational Safety and Health Act 1996, Factory and Machinery Act 1967, Environmental Quality Act 1974).

Summary
The Officer – Cargo Operations is responsible for monitoring and coordinating cargo build-up activities for both in-house and third-party (3PL) freighter operations. This role focuses primarily on e-commerce and solutions business, ensuring cargo is built up efficiently, accurately, and in line with flight capacity requirements. The officer also supports ground operations, system updates, and coordination with the Cargo Terminal Operator (CTO) to ensure smooth flight closure and cargo handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and oversee cargo build-up activities for in-house and 3PL freighter operations, ensuring compliance with operational and safety requirements.
• Ensure optimal load utilization, with a target of 23 tonnes build-up for AK freighter operations, and full-fit utilization for other 3PL freighter flights.
• Coordinate closely with warehouse teams and CTO to ensure cargo is built, staged, and delivered according to flight schedules.
• Conduct CTO monitoring for ground operations, ensuring cargo acceptance, build-up, and handover activities are executed as planned.
• Support and monitor eHUB processing operations, ensuring cargo flows, scanning, and processing milestones are completed correctly.
• Perform and monitor ONET system updates, ensuring accurate and timely milestone status updates throughout the cargo lifecycle.
• Coordinate with CTO on flight closure activities, including cargo manifest checks, load confirmation, and final documentation readiness.
• Assist in resolving operational issues such as late build-up, system discrepancies, missing scans, or last-minute load changes.
• Support ground operations as and when required, including on-site coordination during peak periods or operational disruptions.
• Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with company SOPs, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

• Minimum 1–3 years of experience in cargo operations, logistics, e-commerce fulfillment, or ground handling operations.
• Basic understanding of cargo build-up, freighter operations, and ground handling processes.
• Experience or exposure to system updates and cargo milestone tracking is an advantage.
• Familiarity with CTO operations and warehouse coordination is preferred.
• Able to work in a fast-paced, time-critical operational environment, including shift work if required.
• Good communication and coordination skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• Basic proficiency in MS Excel, G Suites and operational reporting.

• Working knowledge of networking protocols and setup, such as ethernet, wireless network, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN
• Experience with modern SaaS tools and open-source software is desirable
• Strong written documentation skills (ticket notes, SOPs, runbooks, troubleshooting guides, user guides)
• Strong ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with internal and external teams

• Basic AWS console/access support exposure will be advantageous
