Role responsibilities

• Be part of the team to architect and bring up the new service infrastructure for autonomous prime mover (APM) business.

• Architect and develop large scale IoT system to track live operation data for fleet management to support live fleet operations and monitoring.

• Provide best data model and services for global route optimization, live monitoring, live map update, vehicle configuration, vehicle maintenance.

• Architect and develop other internal serivces to facilating R& D process.

• Bring up universal auth integration and best security practice.

• Provide common client SDK for backend services.

Required experience

• Bachelor’s or master's degree in computer science or related relevant field.

• 5+ years' experience in backend implementation.

• Experience with RESTful API framework in Python, Java, or Golang.

• Experience with high performance backend implementation, profiling, and monitoring.

• Experience with data modeling with relational database and NoSQL database.

• Experience with docker, K8s or other containerization techniques.

• Experienced with cloud services.

• Experience with proper CI/CD setup.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Algorithm Development: Support the development of route optimization andmotion planning algorithms (graph search, sampling, or optimization-basedmethods) based on designs provided by the research team.

• Software Development: Writeclean, maintainable, and efficient C++ code to integrate planning modules intothe core autonomy stack.

• Simulation & Validation:Own the end-to-end testing of planning stacks in simulation. You will beresponsible for identifying "corner cases," debugging planningfailures, and ensuring trajectory smoothness.

• Performance Optimization:Assist in profiling and optimizing existing algorithms to ensure they meetreal-time constraints and operate efficiently on embedded hardware.

• Field Testing & Analysis:Participate in real-world vehicle testing. Analyze logs and telemetry data totroubleshoot behavior inconsistencies and improve system reliability.

• Cross-Functional Support:Collaborate with the Perception and Control teams to ensure seamless data flowand coordinate transform accuracy across the stack.

Required experience

• Educational Background: Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in ComputerScience, Robotics, Engineering, or a related field. A strong academicfoundation in path planning or autonomous systems is required.

• Programming Proficiency: Solid proficiency in Modern C++. Familiaritywith Python for scripting and data analysis is a plus.

• Robotics Fundamentals: Good understanding of standard planningalgorithms (e.g., A*, RRT*, Frenet frames, or Lattice planners) and basickinematics.

• Hands-on Tools: Experience with Linux (Ubuntu) and ROS/ROS2 isessential.

• Growth Mindset: A proactive "tinkerer" attitude with theability to learn complex new frameworks quickly and a desire to solve"hard" robotics problems.

Position overview

We are seeking a Planning Research Engineer to join our planning and control team. You will design, develop, and test algorithms that allow autonomous systems to navigate complex environments safely and efficiently.

• Algorithm Development: Assist in developing behavior/motion planning algorithms for autonomous vehicles, including decision-making and trajectory generation.
• Simulation and Testing: Implement, test, and validate behavior and motion planning algorithms in simulation environments and/or on vehicles.
• Optimization: Work on optimizing existing behavior/motion planning algorithms for performance, safety, and efficiency.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with teams across different domains such as perception, localization, and control to ensure robust integration of planning algorithms.
• Data Analysis: Analyze test data and simulation results to assess algorithm performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Research: Stay up-to-date with the latest research in behavior planning and motion planning and propose innovative solutions to address autonomy challenges.
