Operations & Technical Director – Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities
- Establish and optimize processes, systems, and team structures in a startup environment to drive operational efficiency and business growth
- Oversee daily operations to ensure productivity and alignment with organizational objectives
- Develop and implement operational strategies, policies, and procedures to support scalable growth
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify and execute performance improvements
- Manage budgets, control costs, and allocate resources effectively across operational functions
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and company standards to maintain operational integrity
- Provide technical leadership and strategic direction for operational and engineering teams
- Evaluate, implement, and optimize systems, technologies, and infrastructure to enhance performance
- Advise the Managing Director on technical investments, innovations, and system upgrades to support business goals
- Ensure maintenance, reliability, and optimal performance of technical equipment and systems
- Lead and supervise operational and technical teams, including engineers, technicians, and workers, to achieve targets
- Plan staffing needs, coordinate recruitment, deliver training, and conduct performance evaluations to build workforce capability
- Coach, mentor, and provide technical training to enhance team skills and knowledge
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous learning across all teams
- Enforce staff adherence to operational procedures and safety standards to minimize risks
- Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic planning and business expansion initiatives
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution and delivery
- Perform quantity surveying and cost management to control project expenses
- Prepare and present detailed reports on operational and technical performance to stakeholders
- Prepare, review, and control project budgets, cost estimates, and financial forecasts for accuracy and profitability
- Manage tendering processes, evaluate contracts, and develop procurement strategies to optimize costs
- Monitor project costs, variations, and claims to maintain financial control and ensure profitability
Required competencies and certifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Project
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Experience managing multimillion-dollar projects and plant maintenance in oil and gas, petrochemical, or construction industries
- Experience coordinating with site construction teams for installation, testing, and commissioning works
