1. Operations Planning & Execution
- Plan, schedule, and oversee daily shipyard project activities (fabrication, installation, repairs).
- Ensure projects are executed according to timelines, specifications, and client requirements.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and supervisors.
2. Workforce & Resource Management
- Manage manpower allocation (workers, supervisors, subcontractors).
- Ensure proper utilization of equipment, materials, and tools.
- Monitor productivity and optimize workforce efficiency.
3. Safety &Compliance
- Enforce strict compliance with workplace safety regulations and MOM guidelines.
- Conduct safety briefings, risk assessments, and toolbox meetings.
- Ensure workers follow PPE requirements and safe work procedures.
4. Project Monitoring & Reporting
- Track project progress against schedule and budget.
- Prepare daily/weekly reports for management and clients.
- Identify delays or risks and implement corrective actions.
5. Coordination& Communication
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal departments (HR, procurement, QA/QC).
- Attend coordination meetings and resolve operational issues.
- Ensure clear communication across all levels of the yard.
6. Quality Control& Assurance
- Ensure all works meet engineering standards and specifications.
- Work closely with QA/QC teams to maintain quality benchmarks.
- Handle inspections and approvals.
7. Cost Control & Budget Management
- Monitor operational costs (labour, materials, equipment).
- Minimize wastage and improve cost efficiency.
- Support procurement and vendor management.
8. Problem Solving & Risk Management
- Handle unexpected issues like delays, manpower shortages, or equipment breakdowns.
- Develop contingency plans to keep operations running smoothly.
9. Documentation& Compliance
- Maintain proper documentation (permits, reports, safety records).
- Ensure compliance with yard rules, legal regulations, and audits.
- Requirements:
- Ability to work in shipyard environments.
- 10–15 years of experience in shipyard operations
- Strong leadership and decision-making
- Knowledge of marine/offshore operations
- Safety management expertise
- Good communication and coordination
- Problem-solving under pressure
