Home Entertainment Duties (3 days per week, on-site):
· Performing A/V linear passes, checking and confirming accuracy, sync, and quality of audio, video, and subtitles
· Performing logic and navigation QC, and confirming functionality and presence of all assets against client specs
· Checking video assets for quality issues, including any dropouts, corruption, blocking, etc.
· Performing compatibility testing, checking for basic functionality on a matrix of devices based on product specs
· Writing up any issues observed in English - in a clear, accurate, technically proficient manner
· Confirm accuracy of Japanese menu text, dubs, and subtitle translations on emulations and check discs, and note any incorrect translations or errors
· Cover for other in-office Japanese linguist when out on vacation (will be given minimum 30 days’ notice)
Streaming QC Duties (2 days per week, remote):
· For various platforms, perform quality control checks on subtitles and closed captions for accuracy, timing, and readability.
· Ensure translations are culturally relevant without losing the intended meaning of the original dialogue.
· Identify and correct grammatical, typographical, and technical errors in text
