Job Purpose
Reporting to the Manager of DataCenter Operations, the Senior Database Administrator will be a key member of the team to support the lifecycle and maintenance of enterprise database platforms. The Senior Database administrator is implementing the enterprise database solutions for applications / systems, technical processes, and performing necessary activities to complete solution testing and deployment. The Senior Database
Administrator will work with / manage external technology vendors, System Integrators (SI), service providers and internal IT groups and business units for projects and initiatives.
Roles & Responsibilities
· Lead in implementing, optimizing and automating database technologies (e.g. Oracle Database, Oracle Real Application Cluster (Oracle RAC), Postgres, SQL server & etc) on-prem and in the Public Cloud.
· Lead in Implementing, optimizing Oracle Golden Gate (OGG) technologies for real time change data capture (CDC) on-prem and in the Public Cloud.
· Implement and maintain robust solutions for enterprise database technologies to meet business demands including performance tuning, upgrades, clustering, redundancy and disaster recovery.
· Provide subject matter expertise and represents the highest level of technical escalation for Database technologies on prem and in the Public Cloud.
· Consult with and serve as liaison for end users and application developers in the support of mission critical applications.
· Ensure appropriate standards and procedures are adhered to, and develop and implement standards for installation, maintenance and enhancement of database platforms to support quality deliverables.
· Clearly articulate design trade-offs of availability, performance, interoperability and costs to both technical and executive audiences in regard to database technologies.
· Provide guidance and cross training to other members on the team.
Requirements
• Minimum 5-8 years’ experience in a production IT environment managing enterprise database technologies (e.g. Oracle RAC, OGG, Postgres, SQL server).
• Provide L2/L3 database administration and operational support.
• Hands-on experience setting up and optimizing Oracle RAC, OGG, Postgres, SQL server.
• Hands-on experience fine-tuning SQL query and optimizing indexes and plan management to speed up SQL query performance.
• Experience in executing projects, including planning and implementing a short and long term work plans and successfully completing projects on schedule.
• Experience in implementing enterprise database and Cloud technologies.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience of any of the following Linux / Unix platforms: RHEL / Solaris / AIX.
• Experience with application and database performance tuning, capacity planning and reporting.
• Practical experience troubleshooting database problems.
• Experience in managing and dealing with third party system integrators and solution providers.
• Experience working with clustered systems and high availability systems.
• Good Knowledge of Database platforms (Oracle RAC/OGG/Postgres/SQL server
• Good Knowledge of cloud-based database technologies in the Azure Cloud.
• Knowledge of managing IBM Websphere Application server, Apache Tomcat, Oracle WebLogic is a plus.
• Knowledge of Oracle Transportation Management, Oracle Business Intelligence and Oracle ODI is a plus.
• Good knowledge of other technologies used in IT enterprise infrastructure such as server hardware, virtualization/VMWare, networks, load balancers, firewalls, SAN Storage, backups, databases, AD / LDAP, SSO and cloud solutions such as OCI. Working experience with several of these areas highly desirable.
• Knowledge of managing Snowflake is a plus.
