Job Requirements:

Job Summary

A postdoctoral research fellow position in the areas of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) for spatial omics and precision medicine is available at the Loo Lab in the Bioinformatics Institute (BII), A*STAR, Singapore. The group develops next generation spatial omics assays, cellular phenotype analysis methods, and machine learning models to predict patient drug responses. Job Summary

The Network Infrastructure & Security Engineer will be responsible for the design, deployment, operation, and optimization of our network infrastructure, including routers, switches and firewalls. This includes supporting external vendors to deploy network assets and taking over control and maintenance from vendors from day 2 onwards. The role shall also be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining cybersecurity policies and controls to protect systems and data from evolving threats. A strong understanding of networking principles, cybersecurity frameworks, and a passion for staying ahead of emerging threats are essential.

Solution Sourcing and Strategy

• Research, evaluate, and recommend new cybersecurity and network solutions to enhance our security posture and network capabilities.
• Conduct market analysis to identify emerging technologies, vendors, and best practices relevant to our infrastructure and security needs.
• Develop business cases and justifications for new solution procurements.

Vendor Management & Solution Deployment Oversight

• Manage and coordinate with external vendors throughout the lifecycle of solution deployment, from selection to post implementation review.
• Review and validate vendor provided designs, configurations, and implementation plans to ensure alignment with organizational security policies and network architecture standards.
• Oversee the successful integration of new solutions into the existing infrastructure.

Post Deployment Maintenance & Operations

• Perform ongoing maintenance, configuration, and optimization of network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers) and security systems (IDS/IPS, SIEM, EDR, antimalware, vulnerability scanners).
• Monitor network and system activity for suspicious behavior, security incidents, and unauthorized access, taking prompt action as needed.
• Conduct regular vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and security audits to identify and address weaknesses post deployment.
• Develop and implement incident response plans, leading efforts to contain, eradicate, and recover from cyberattacks.
• Manage and maintain identity and access management (IAM) solutions.

Security Policy and Compliance

• Develop, implement, and enforce cybersecurity policies, standards, and procedures.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Network Engineering, or a related field.

This role involves the design, simulation, and implementation of microwave packaging, high-frequency PCBs, and electromagnetic shielding to enable high-fidelity qubit control and readout. The successful candidate will contribute to device characterization, cryogenic measurements, and data analysis to evaluate qubit performance. You will also collaborate closely with the team on cryogenic setup development and qubit design/fabrication.

Main Responsibilities:

• Design, simulate, and validate microwave packaging, RF PCBs, and EM shielding for superconducting qubit devices
• Perform low-temperature qubit measurements, including protocol development, calibration, and data interpretation

JOB DESCRIPTION

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and calibrate a national-level energy system model used to identify decarbonisation pathways for Singapore
• Gather user requirements and integrate multiple data streams, such as techno-economic parameters and policy constraints, into modelling framework
• Perform techno-economic and environmental analysis of energy systems
• Conduct scenario analysis and sensitivity testing to assess the robustness, cost, and emissions impact of different decarbonisation pathways
• Visualise and communicate complex modelling results to non-technical stakeholders
• Engage with government agencies and industry partners to validate assumptions, align model objectives with strategic needs, and translate model outputs into policy recommendations

Qualification and relevant experience

• PhD in systems engineering, energy economics and policy, operations research, industrial ecology or a related field

• Proficiency in programming languages (such as Python, GAMS, R) and data analysis/visualisation tools
• Experience with techno-economic assessment of energy systems, lifecycle analysis or other sustainability related topics
• Experience with sensitivity analysis, robust decision making, or uncertainty quantification
• Interest in computable general equilibrium (CGE) modelling is a plus
• Knowledge of Singapore’s and Southeast Asia’s energy policy context and industrial ecosystem is a plus
