As the Associate, Manufacturing, Science and Technology, you will be in charge of developing, implementing, and evaluating new production materials, equipment, and technologies. You will conduct research, feasibility tests, and collaborate with vendors and partner functions, requiring technical knowledge, attention to detail, and reliability.

In this role, a typical day will include:

• Apply technical knowledge to perform tasks and support project goals effectively
  Develop, implement, and evaluate new production materials, equipment, and technologies before mass production

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Responsible for supporting and implementing Research Instruments’ commercial strategy and work with various key stakeholders in expanding current accounts and creating new markets to deliver Company’s revenue.

• Establish and foster good relationships with local Key Opinion Leaders, including keeping them engaged with our diverse Genomics offerings

A*STAR Bioprocessing Technology Institute (A*STAR BTI) is seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral researcher to conduct exciting research in (1) developing human intestinal in vitro co-culture models for toxicological evaluation of novel foods, and (2) engineering cultivated meat (CM) cell lines for endogenous production of growth factors. Both projects are part of the Singapore Food Story (SFS) 2.0 R&D Programme. Interested candidates should have strong expertise in cell culture and characterization techniques such as immunocytochemistry, confocal imaging and next-generation sequencing. The goal of (1) is to establish an intestinal co-culture system capable of recapitulating the human gastro-intestinal physiological environment and assist collaborators in incorporating the co-culture into a microphysiological system. The MPS system will be validated through tests of chemical compounds with known toxicity and subsequently used in tests of novel food ingredients. The goal of (2) is to develop CM cell lines that express growth factors endogenously to reduce dependence on exogenous supplementation which is the main driver of media cost. Candidates can expect to work closely with scientists from other work packages within the grant project and with relevant industry partners to co-develop and commercialize innovative technologies to accelerate the adoption of non-animal-based and human-relevant in vitro models for safety assessment of novel foods and, by extension, therapeutics, and establish CM cell lines for cost-effective, scalable production of CM.

Responsibilities include:

• Establishment of human intestinal tri-culture model with morphological and biological functions that mimic human physiology
• Transcriptome profiling of chemical compound-treated cultures by next-generation sequencing for toxicogenomic analysis
• Genome sequence analysis for identification of cis-regulatory elements to direct endogenous expression of growth factors in CM cell lines
• In vitro reporter gene assays of cis-regulatory elements
• Working closely in a multi-disciplinary team with scientists from other relevant work packages of the grant project(s)
• Collaborating effectively with industry collaborators
• Communicating scientific results to a variety of audience in written and oral formats
