Due to a number of project wins, seeking a Data Centre Architect to join our high-performing and diverse Urbanism + Planning team. This is a rare opportunity to combine leadership, client engagement and project delivery at scale, while contributing to some of Australia’s most impactful mission critical Data Centre projects.

This role can be based in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane or Canberra.

How you’ll make a difference:

• Provide project leadership and technical oversight on a range of Data Centre projects — guide multidisciplinary teams through complex architectural commissions, set clear design direction, and collaborate closely with our Brisbane colleagues to drive successful outcomes.
• Drive excellence in project delivery by overseeing major Data Centre initiatives and projects ensuring design quality, innovation, and outstanding client satisfaction.
• Partner with sector leads to win major pursuits, deepen client relationships, and position the firm as the partner of choice for large-scale, technical projects.
• Champion design and technical standards by delivering sustainable, innovative solutions, coordinating multidisciplinary inputs, and mentoring staff to elevate studio-wide capability.
• Strengthen business performance through effective resource allocation, budget and risk management, and contribution to strategic growth and market positioning of our architecture offering.

As our Design Manager you’ll lead the planning and technical design of data centre projects, ensuring innovative, scalable, and compliant solutions aligned with Hyperscale Data Centre requirements.

Here you’ll support the project delivery across all project phases from due diligence to handover with technical analysis and advice and coordinating multi-discipline teams to deliver the designs for high-performance resilient Data Centres with a focus on safety in design, buildability and prefabrication for speed of delivery and innovation in achieving both technical and commercial outcomes. 

Being our DM PM, you’ll work collaboratively with our Engineering and Design Centre of Excellence SMEs and sector leads, to achieve economies of scale and speed through standardised long lead, free issue equipment, application of lessons learned, NEXTDC design standards, briefs, process and scopes of services to improve speed, scale, security, sustainability, reliability, business case total cost of ownership and ROIC for hyperscale projects.

These roles will play a key part in strengthening our Ports & Maritime leadership capability nationally, particularly as we continue building our senior technical, design and project management presence.

How you’ll make a difference

• Lead the design management and delivery of ports and maritime infrastructure projects, including port expansions, marine structures, coastal infrastructure and waterfront developments.
• Own and manage packages of work, taking accountability for scope, program, technical delivery and client outcomes.
• Coordinate with AECOM teams across Australia and and across the globe, leveraging our design capability to deliver complex maritime infrastructure projects.
  Act as the client interface, building trusted relationships with port authorities, government agencies and private sector clients.
• Manage project delivery end-to-end, including design and commercial management, programme coordination and multidisciplinary technical integration.
• Provide leadership across maritime and coastal engineering disciplines, ensuring designs align with industry standards and best practice.
  Support the growth of AECOM’s Ports & Maritime capability globally, mentoring engineers and strengthening delivery teams.
