Duties to be Performed:

Senior Mechanical Engineer – Fire Protection Systems will be responsible for designing and delivering mechanical systems for industrial properties in the semiconductor, electronics, biopharma, and related industries.

The Duties/ Responsibilities of the Prospective Candidate are,

·      Experience working in highly secured and air gap systems is a plus (i.e. banking, government systems and similar)

• Collaborate as project team member on Software design matters.
• Capture and evaluate customer, internal requirements and vehicle specific interface requirements. Identify suitable concept in terms of functional, technological and effort.
• Adhere to Bosch Software Engineering Process as e.g.:-
  • Perform requirement reviews, design reviews and code reviews.
  • Perform unit testing and release of the software according to SW release process.
• Develop the SW design taking into consideration the dependencies to other module and integration into the overall system.
• SW programming using both standard and proprietary software tools and libraries.
• Create SW test specifications and protocols, if necessary develop test SW. Executes test plans to ensure new software meets specifications, functionalities and performance requirements.
• Analyze failure log, clarify system problems and resolve design issues.
• Develop and produce technical reports, design analysis and documentation in support of designs.
• Assist Manufacturing in troubleshooting manufacturing related problems.
• Provide post-production support.

Key Roles and Responsibilities 

• Lead and participate in quality planning such as FMEA, control plan, mistake proofing, supplier qualifications
• Lead in Quality Audit (ISO9000, ISO14001) and maintenance of Quality Management system
• Lead in supplier quality management activities including supplier performance assessment, warranty and claim process and supplier certifications
• Drive statistical methods in process control and continual improvement in process control and quality
• Provide technical support during Project QA, installation, testing and commissioning.
• Monitor the progress and effectiveness of the project quality management system. Recommend and implement improvements when required
• Ensuring the compliance with all the specifications and requirements included in the signed EPC contracts .
• Co-ordination with Safety / O&M / technical / engineering resources / customers and other stakeholders for QA/QC activities as needed
• Develop and and maintain a non-conformance control system including issuing of non-conformance reports to the EPC contractors and ensure corrective actions are implemented and effective
• Establish a contractor quality programme which trains the contractors to conform to Sembcorp’s requirements and put in place a system to achieve the required standards
• Manage and maintain NCR registry and drive stakeholders for closure
• Perform FAT local and overseas for key critical components when required.
• To understand and support QC activities when required.

Qualifications & Experience 

• Degree/ Diploma in electrical or mechanical or civil engineering discipline
• Minimum 3-year working experience as a engineering manager, QA manager, or engineering team lead.
• Knowledge of the SS:638 & SS601 preferable
• Holds a recognized Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor certifications
• Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma quality concepts and tools 

Preferred Skills & Characteristics 

• Self-starter and ability to self-manage.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
• Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
• Knowledge of Quality Management system and process
• Practical knowledge of 8D and root cause analysis process.
• Not afraid of heights, medically fit and able to climb vertical ladders.
• Safety certifications such as Working at Height, Construction Safety Orientation Course etc. preferred.
• Some travel will be required.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and high-performance applications using Java
• Build and enhance backend services, APIs, and microservices architectures
• Collaborate with frontend developers, QA engineers, and DevOps teams to deliver end-to-end solutions
• Participate in system design discussions, code reviews, and technical decision-making
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize application performance

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• Strong experience in Java development (Spring Boot preferred)
• Proven experience in building scalable and distributed systems
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs, microservices, and cloud environments
• Experience with databases (SQL/NoSQL) and performance tuning
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently

Good to Have

• Experience with containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Knowledge of messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
• Familiarity with frontend technologies (React, Angular)
