As a Principal Engineer, Electrical Engineering at ASM, you will act as a technical lead for electrical systems within advanced semiconductor equipment. What you will be working on

Job Summary

We are looking for a hands-on Marine Engineering Technician to support marine, offshore, shipyard, piping and mechanical engineering works in Singapore.

This role is suitable for a candidate with a marine engineering, mechanical engineering, shipyard, offshore, piping, fabrication, maintenance, or technical operations background. The successful candidate will assist in daily site coordination, technical checks, manpower deployment, work progress tracking, basic documentation, and communication between supervisors, workers, clients, vendors and management.

This is a practical, operations-focused role for someone who is comfortable working in a shipyard environment and wants to build a long-term career in marine engineering operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Site & Workshop Operations Support

• Assist the Project Manager / Operations Manager in coordinating daily marine engineering works at shipyard and workshop sites.
• Support piping, mechanical, steelwork, repair, fabrication, installation and maintenance activities.
• Check that workers, tools, materials and equipment are ready before work starts.
• Monitor daily job progress and report delays, manpower issues, access issues or site constraints.
• Help coordinate work areas, permits, safety requirements and job sequencing with site teams.

2. Marine Piping & Mechanical Works

• Assist in basic technical checks for marine piping, valves, fittings, supports, flanges, gaskets, pumps and related mechanical components.
• Support measurement-taking, site marking, material preparation and fabrication follow-up.
• Read and interpret basic drawings, sketches, work instructions, job sheets and site mark-ups.
• Help identify site clashes, missing materials, wrong specifications or installation issues.
• Assist in inspection preparation, rectification works and handover of completed jobs.

3. Manpower & Subcontractor Coordination

• Coordinate with supervisors, foremen, technicians and workers on daily work assignments.
• Track worker attendance, deployment, overtime and job allocation where required.
• Assist with coordination of subcontractors, vendors and delivery personnel.
• Ensure workers are briefed on work scope, safety requirements and daily priorities.
• Escalate discipline, productivity or manpower shortage issues to management.

4. Materials, Tools & Equipment

• Assist in checking material availability before work starts.
• Follow up on pipe fittings, consumables, tools, PPE, welding items, mechanical parts and site equipment.
• Support simple stock tracking and record-keeping.
• Report missing, damaged or unsuitable materials to the supervisor.
• Coordinate with procurement/admin team for urgent material requirements.

5. Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare simple daily progress reports, site photos, attendance records and job updates.
• Assist with service reports, work completion records, delivery orders and inspection documents.
• Maintain proper filing of drawings, permits, checklists and project records.
• Update management on completed works, pending items, variation works and site issues.
• Use WhatsApp, email, Microsoft Excel, Word and basic digital tools for reporting.

6. Safety & Compliance

• Follow shipyard safety rules, company procedures and client site requirements.
• Assist in ensuring workers use proper PPE and comply with safe work procedures.
• Support permit-to-work, toolbox meeting, risk assessment and safety documentation where required.
• Report unsafe conditions, near misses or incidents immediately.
• Work closely with WSH personnel, supervisors and client representatives.

Requirements

• Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident preferred.
• NITEC / Higher NITEC / Diploma in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Offshore Engineering, Electrical & Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• Candidates with relevant hands-on shipyard, marine, offshore, construction, fabrication, piping or maintenance experience are welcome.
• Able to work in shipyard, workshop and outdoor site environments.
• Able to communicate clearly with supervisors, workers, clients and vendors.
• Able to read basic technical drawings, work instructions or site sketches.
• Basic Microsoft Excel, Word, email and WhatsApp reporting skills.
• Strong sense of responsibility, punctuality and follow-through.
• Willing to learn marine piping, mechanical works, site operations and project coordination.
• Class 3 driving licence will be an advantage but is not compulsory.
• Forklift, lifting supervisor, welding, safety or shipyard-related certificates will be an advantage.

Engineering Manager
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead a team of design engineers in the design and development of semiconductor equipment from module to machine conceptualization

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Collaborate with HR business partners, HR shared services (Business Solution Centre, BSC based in KL) and JSG C&B to ensure consistent implementation

• Coordinate with BSC on monthly final payroll checking while BSC is responsible for monthly payroll with external payroll vendor Prosoft

• Responsible for HR Policies (Employee Handbook) review, update and communication to employees, bi-annually where applicable.

• Lead the annual Company insurance renewal with broker

• Evaluate, manage third party vendors responsible for providing data or services for benefits programmes, ensuring contract obligations are met e.g. MHC vendor

• HRIS Key user for system management of Leave & Payroll Portal (Prosoft) and SAP for Personnel Data Management.

• Coordinate claims / payments with BSC for processing such as CPF submission, NS claim submission, Statutory leave claim submission (maternity, child care leaves etc), resignee final settlement, OT payment and AWS.

• Management of claims with insurer / broker such as medical, insurance and WICA claims

• Engage with Union on CA renewal (every 3 years)

• Responsible for performance appraisal process, and data cleansing with BSC before rollout.

• Data management with BSC for any position changes, promotion (including Color Belting for Technicians), transfers etc.

• Management of incentive schemes for payment with BSC e.g. Technical Retention Program, Port Incentive, Sales Incentive Scheme

• Perform annual salary benchmarking with Mercer

• Responsible for salary proposal of new joiners

• Responsible for salary budget exercise for C&B topics

• Handle tax clearance/settlement for local and expat employees with tax consultant

• Lead internal and external audits on C&B-statutory survey and MOM Labor market survey.

Acting on behalf of owners and end-users, the team is deeply involved from early design through construction, commissioning, and handover, ensuring performance, reliability, and long-term operational success.

They are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Lead to take ownership of mechanical systems delivery for data centre new build and infrastructure fit-out projects.

The Role

As the Mechanical Engineering Lead, you will provide technical leadership across design, construction, and commissioning. You will advise on engineering design decisions, constructability, risk, and performance, ensuring mechanical systems are delivered to the highest technical and operational standards.

This is a senior, hands-on role suited to a self-starter who is comfortable working across multidisciplinary teams and engaging directly with consultants, contractors, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Mechanical Design & Engineering Leadership

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of mechanical systems for data centre new build and infrastructure fit-out projects

• Prepare and review mechanical specifications, technical drawings, and construction documentation, including HVAC, piping, and equipment layouts

• Evaluate and select mechanical equipment and systems to ensure performance, redundancy, and constructability

• Perform and review HVAC load calculations, airflow analysis, and energy modelling to optimise system efficiency and resilience

• Assess design options and conduct feasibility studies and cost analyses, proposing value-driven improvements where appropriate

Construction & Commissioning Support

• Provide technical leadership during construction, including review of contractor submittals, RFIs, and design clarifications

• Conduct site inspections to ensure works comply with design intent, specifications, and applicable codes

• Support and participate in commissioning, testing, and integrated systems validation

• Troubleshoot mechanical and HVAC system issues to ensure readiness for operations and handover

Stakeholder & Project Collaboration

• Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, project managers, and client stakeholders to integrate mechanical systems seamlessly into the overall project

• Act as a key technical interface between the client, consultants, and contractors

• Ensure mechanical systems align with operational, maintenance, and lifecycle requirements

Continuous Improvement

• Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies in data centre mechanical and HVAC systems

• Apply best practices in energy efficiency, sustainability, and system resilience to improve design and delivery outcomes

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline

• 10+ years of experience designing and managing mechanical systems for data centre new build and infrastructure fit-out projects

• Strong experience in HVAC systems, including chillers, cooling towers, AHUs, control systems, and redundancy strategies

• Experience with plumbing, piping, and fire protection systems

• Professional Engineer (PE) licence is preferred

• Proficient in tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Procore, or similar platforms

• Strong understanding of codes, standards, and best practices for mission-critical mechanical systems

• Experience with energy-efficient and sustainable mechanical design
