Reporting to – Group Finance Director  

About the Role  

We are seeking a commercially minded and strategic Corporate Planning Controller to partner with senior leadership in driving business performance, long-range planning and informed decision-making across our international operations.  

As a business operating in 9 markets with revenue of ~$80M, this role plays a critical part in strengthening enterprise planning capabilities, improving performance visibility and supporting investment decisions to enable sustainable growth.  

You will lead group planning activities across budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning, provide commercial and financial insights, and support strategic initiatives including business modelling and investment evaluation. 

Key Responsibilities  

Group Planning & Forecasting: 

• Lead annual budgeting, quarterly rolling forecasts and long-range financial planning across international markets.  

• Lead cash flow forecasting and working capital analysis to support liquidity management and investment decisions. 

• Partner with business leaders to understand growth drivers, investment priorities, assumptions and risks. 

• Develop scenario planning, business modelling and sensitivity analysis to support strategic decisions. 

Investment Evaluation & Strategic Support: 

• Support investment evaluation and business case development for strategic initiatives. 

• Provide financial modelling and analysis for growth opportunities and business expansion initiatives.  

• Support due diligence, financial analysis and integration activities relating to M&A opportunities where required.  

• Deliver recommendations to support executive decision-making. 

Performance Analytics & Business Insights: 

• Deliver timely and accurate management reports, dashboards, and KPIs for senior leadership.  

• Conduct variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior periods, translating data and providing clear business insights.  

• Evaluate revenue, costs, margins, and operational metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.  

• Monitor business performance against strategic and operational objectives. 

• Understanding of multi-currency forecasting, foreign exchange impacts and regional financial performance analysis. 

Planning Governance & Process Optimisation: 

• Ensure integrity and consistency of financial data used for planning and analysis.  

• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and reporting quality to support scalability  

• Leverage financial systems, ERP tools, and planning software to streamline workflows.  

Financial Governance & Planning Oversight: 

• Provide oversight and alignment of Financial Controller activities relating to planning, forecasting and performance reporting.  

• Strengthen governance and reporting discipline across regions. 

Governance & Controls:  

• Work closely with Accounting and Finance teams to ensure alignment between actuals, budget, forecasts, and reporting.   

• Strengthen financial controls and ensure accurate, compliant reporting across regions.

Ideal Profile  

• Qualified accounting or finance professional (CA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent).  

• 5+ years of experience in corporate planning, commercial finance, or a similar role.  

• Experience leading planning, forecasting, business modelling or performance management activities across regional or global operations.  

• Experience performing valuation analysis, discounted cash flow (DCF) modelling, acquisition analysis and post-acquisition integration planning is advantageous. 

• Experience supporting investment analysis, strategic initiatives and annual strategic planning cycles across regional or global operations, including market growth strategies, resource planning, investment prioritisation and long-range business planning.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Group Financial Controller to lead and oversee the financial management, reporting, compliance, internal control, and group finance coordination functions of the organisation.

4. Audit, Tax & Regulatory Matters

• Manage year end audit processes and liaise with external auditors, tax agents, bankers, company secretaries, and relevant authorities.
• Oversee tax compliance matters including corporate tax, GST, withholding tax, and other statutory submissions where applicable.
• Ensure timely preparation and submission of audit schedules, tax information, and supporting documents.
• Support the resolution of audit findings, financial queries, tax matters, and compliance related issues.
• Ensure all statutory and regulatory financial obligations are properly monitored and fulfilled.

5. Headquarters Reporting & Stakeholder Management

• Act as the key finance contact point for coordination with the parent company and headquarters on financial reporting, management accounts, budgeting, compliance, and group finance matters.
• Prepare and submit regular financial reports, variance analysis, forecasts, and management updates required by headquarters.
• Support headquarters reporting requirements, financial reviews, internal audits, and ad hoc information requests in a timely and accurate manner.
• Work closely with senior management, project teams, procurement teams, and finance personnel to ensure alignment between business operations and group finance requirements.
• Facilitate effective communication between the local finance team and headquarters on reporting standards, policies, procedures, and financial issues.

6. Team Leadership & Finance Operations

• Lead, guide, and supervise the finance team in day to day financial operations, reporting, compliance, and control matters.
• Review team output to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery of finance related work.
• Support capability development, team structure improvement, and finance process optimisation where required.
• Oversee daily finance operations including receivables, payables, general ledger control, cash management, and supporting documentation.
• Ensure proper maintenance of financial records, accounting schedules, and supporting files for management, audit, and reporting purposes.

Requirements

• Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CA, or equivalent will be an advantage.
• Minimum 8 to 12 years of relevant experience in finance, accounting, financial reporting, or financial control roles, with prior experience in a managerial or leadership capacity.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, group consolidation, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, audit, tax, and internal controls.
• Relevant experience in construction, engineering, infrastructure, project based, or multinational environments will be an advantage.
• Experience in reporting to a parent company, regional office, or headquarters is required.
• Good understanding of statutory compliance, financial governance, internal control, and risk management practices.
• Strong analytical, leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, financial reporting tools, and accounting or ERP systems.
• Good command of English, both written and spoken. Ability to communicate in Chinese will be an advantage for coordination with headquarters and Chinese speaking stakeholders.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in group reporting and consolidation across multiple entities will be an advantage.
• Familiarity with project accounting, cost monitoring, and financial control in engineering or infrastructure environments will be beneficial.
• Experience in liaising with headquarters, auditors, tax agents, banks, and regulatory authorities will be preferred.
• Exposure to internal control improvement, finance transformation, or ERP implementation projects will be an advantage.Prior experience leading a finance team and supporting senior management on strategic financial matters will be preferred.

Job Responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor daily fleet operations, ensuring efficient deployment of prime movers and drivers.
• Plan and assign transport jobs, monitor job progress, and ensure timely delivery and collection of containers.
• Liaise closely with drivers, customers, port authorities, and internal departments to ensure smooth operational flow.
• Track vehicle movements using GPS tracking systems and respond promptly to operational issues or delays.
• Manage and update transport-related documentation and system records accurately.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, port regulations, and safety requirements.
• Optimize fleet utilization and support continuous improvement of transport operations.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in transport, logistics, or container haulage operations.
• Proven experience managing and coordinating prime mover operations.
• Proficient in PSA Haulier Community System (HCS), Portnet, CDAS CMS, and GPS tracking systems.
• Good understanding of port operations, container movements, and transport scheduling.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle operational challenges effectively.
• Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: 

The Internal Controller will be responsible for ensuring a strong internal control environment through the development of policies and procedures and will be involved in projects of varying complexity and scope on all aspects of the organization including financial, regulatory and operational. 

ROLES and RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Lead and participate in internal control projects driven by regional and corporate, and coordinate with entities to promote project execution on schedule, such as Balance Sheet Review, SOD Review, Fraud Detection controls etc. 

• Perform routine monitoring reviews on identified process controls such as bank reconciliations, payment controls 

• Assist to implement and monitor execution of policies and procedures to improve internal controls, compliance, and efficiency. 

• Provide practicable advice to different stakeholders to facilitate their work. 

• Closely follow up on action plan remediations arising from internal/external audits and IC reviews, work collaboratively with business and process owners to implement and monitor remediation efforts that result from internal control assessments, ensuring the effective implementation of corrective action. 

• Develop and conduct adequate training and prepare related information material on internal control objectives, approach and methodology to business partners to build knowledge and understanding of risks and control. 

• Support special projects as and when launched. 

• Focus Area : SEA, Korea, Japan and ANZ with exposure to other APAC countries

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 5 years of well-developed experience in internal control with exposure to APAC region 

• Good knowledge of local and international accounting rules and policies 

• Big 4 audit firm and experience with banking controls is preferable.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce daily P&L reports and perform P&L decomposition

• Provide commentary on key P&L drivers and link them to desk strategies

• Monitor new deals, late trades, and market operations activity

• Review off-market trades and validate/justify rationale for execution

• Perform exception checks between reported P&L vs trader estimates and investigate breaches

• GLAO certification of balance sheet accounts

• Compute room-wide and desk-level reserves

• Prepare key risk and performance indicator reporting for the desk

• Improve and streamline team workflows and operational efficiency

• Review control processes and identify potential gaps

• Support ad-hoc queries from Front Office, Risk, Middle Office, and Finance

Requirements

• Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or Business preferred
