The Research Assistant will join a new project awarded by the Public Utilities Board (PUB) and Coastal Protection and Flood Resilience Institute Singapore (CFI) collecting data from the Johor Strait to better protect Singapore’s coastline amidst climate change. The successful candidate will design and prototype test articles, conduct wind-tunnel-based experimental fluid mechanics studies, support CFD-driven design refinement, and analyse boundary-layer and drag-reduction performance data. The role involves close collaboration with academic and industry partners and contribution to technical reporting, technology translation and implementation-ready design guidelines.

Responsibilities:

• Plan, design and execute experimental investigation of boundary-layer behaviour, near-wall flow structures and drag-reduction performance on solid models.

• Set up, operate and optimise wind tunnel experiments and associated diagnostics, including force/pressure measurements, flow visualisation and other near-wall flow measurement techniques as appropriate.

• Develop CAD models for energy-saving device (ESD) geometries, experimental fixtures and supporting apparatus.

• Utilizing advanced antenna techniques, e.g. Reconfigurable Intelligent Metasurfaces (RIS), or Stacked Intelligent Metasurfaces (SIM).

• Conduct simulation and perform experiment in some scenarios.

• Document research outcome to publish at top international conference / journal.

• Write report for the project progress.

• Work with other research fellow and PhD students for the system development.

Job Requirements:

• PhD degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, or related field.

• Good publication record.

• Have prior experience in conducting experiments is a plus.

• A thorough knowledge of the ISAC, RIS is highly preferred.

• Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills
