Role Summary
Lead and/or execute preventive maintenance(PM), corrective works, and emergency response across medium-voltage (MV) ringmain units (RMUs) and industrial burner-related mechanical/electrical systems. Ensure all works are carried out safely under Permit-to-Work (PTW), meet technical specifications, and are fully documented for client acceptance and billing.
Key Responsibilities
1) Field Service & Troubleshooting
· Attend customer sites for breakdown support; coordinate safe isolation, access, and permits before work starts.
· Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical faults within competence; escalate safety-criticalcommissioning/tuning when required.
· Provide clear updates to clients on findings, risks, and recommended rectification actions.
2) RMU / Substation Maintenance (22 kV / 6.6 kV and associated equipment)
· Plan and execute PM and servicing activities to maintenance manuals and client specifications.
· Supervise and coordinatetechnicians/contractors on-site: manpower planning, task allocation, toolbox briefings, and workmanship checks.
· Oversee insulating oil activities (where applicable): draining, internal cleaning, foreign object checks, refilling/topping-up, and record oil quality checks.
· Ensure required testing is performed and recorded (e.g., dielectric strength, insulation resistance, partial discharge checks) and that test instruments are within calibration.
· Coordinate urgent/emergencyrectification works and mobilise within required timeframes when on-call.
3) Burner / Industrial M&E Service Support
· Perform PM visits using checklists; document condition, parts used, and improvement recommendations.
· Support service activities forburners/burner controls and related components (e.g., ignition, controls,gas-train components) where trained.
· Identify correct replacement parts and provide feedback for stocking/kitting decisions.
4) Safety, Quality & Documentation
· Enforce PTW workflows, safe work procedures, and PPE compliance; stop unsafe work immediately.
· Produce clear service reports(photos, test results, action items) and obtain customer sign-off.
· Prepare and submit completion documentation: checklists, test reports, claim forms, and supporting evidence for client Completion Certificates and invoicing.
5) Tools, Spares & Housekeeping
· Maintain tools/test equipment and PPE in good condition; ensure calibration status is valid before use.
· Manage spares and consumables: track usage, maintain critical spares readiness, and raise requisitions as needed.
Requirements (Must-Have)
· Diploma/ITE in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Building Services/M&E, or equivalent technical qualification.
· Hands-on maintenance/serviceexperience (e.g., MV switchgear/RMUs, substation equipment, industrial M&E systems, controls, pumps, instrumentation).
· Good understanding of PTW workflows, basic risk control practices, and field safety supervision.
· Able to read technicaldrawings/manuals, follow checklists, and write clear job reports.
· Customer-facing communication and professional on-site conduct.
· Physically fit for field work; willing to travel to customer sites in Singapore; able to support urgentcall-outs when required.
Nice-to-Have
· Experience with MVswitchgear/RMU servicing and insulating-oil handling (training can be provided depending on site needs).
· Exposure to burners/boilers, burner controls/ignition components, fuel-train components, pumps, or industrial controls.
· Valid Class 3 driving licence.
Working Conditions
· Worksites: client substations, switchrooms, and industrial/commercial facilities (islandwide).
· Work hours typically aligned to client working hours; overtime/after-hours works may be required for outages and urgent rectification.
· Occasionalconfined/limited-access switchroom work and strict adherence to site safety controls.
