About the Role

Singapore's premier business daily The Business Times (BT) is looking for an enterprising leader to be part of its Visuals Team that drives and implements more visual and interactive storytelling in the newsroom. In addition to corporate news and commentary, BT covers economic policy, wealth, property, lifestyle and SMEs, with a growing focus on emerging markets, new investments, artificial intelligence and ESG (environmental, social and governance).

We are looking for a forward-looking, proactive, and dynamic individual to build and lead a diverse team of graphic designers and visual journalists.

Responsibilities

• Art direct outstanding visual journalism. This could include data visualisation, photo stories and other visual formats.
• Construct visual narrative and deploy photography, illustration and design elements for effective storytelling.
• Drive daily graphics creation across beats, and also project-manage long form projects commissioned by journalists and editors
• Manage workflows and processes for seamless integration of visual content across platforms, including print and digital (web and mobile). This includes communicating schedules and information for long term projects, ensuring that delivery deadlines are met.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or equivalent newsroom or advertising work experience.
• At least 8 years’ experience in project management and running visual teams.
• At least 10 years’ experience in creating innovative online visual journalism, including data visualisation.
• Technical expertise in creative applications and front end web development fundamentals (HTML, CSS and Javascript) is a must.
• Strong proficiency in standard design tools (Illustrator/Photoshop/Figma) and Datawrapper, Flourish, Tableau or similar off-the-shelf chart creating tools. Familiarity with map making software (QGIS and other mapping tools), programmatic data manipulation and languages such as R or Python will be beneficial.

Sustainability Office (SO) 
The Sustainability Office is a centre of excellence for sustainable investing practices that drives GIC’s focus on this area as an enterprise priority. The Office is responsible for (i) partnering with GIC’s investment teams to integrate sustainability-related considerations in the investment process through the co-development of methodologies, tools, and frameworks, (ii) conducting industry-leading sustainability research that informs the firm’s view on financial materiality and direction on sustainability-themed investing, (iii) defining GIC’s public stance on sustainable investing and the metrics used to measure the sustainability performance of the portfolio, and (iv) providing trusted advice to GIC’s clients to support their sustainable investing strategy. What will you do as an Associate/AVP, Total Portfolio Sustainability Investment Research & Strategy?

• Conduct thematic/macro research: Perform in-depth investment research on sustainability issues such as climate change, nature, water, biodiversity, supply chains, labor management, and corporate governance. Evaluate their macroeconomic and investment implications and establish the firm’s view on these matters. 

• Collaborate with investment teams: Partner with top-of-the-house investment teams to develop comprehensive sustainability integration frameworks, methodologies, tools, and analytics for the total portfolio. 

• Analyse sustainability policy developments: Track sustainability-related policy changes for 1-2 major countries, analyzing their macroeconomic and market impacts, and generating investment insights for senior management and investment teams. 

What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?  

• Professional experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in conducting macro and/or thematic research across various asset classes. Experience with multi-asset allocation is highly regarded. 

• Educational background: Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in finance, economics, statistics, sustainability/climate, or related fields

• Analytical and technical skills: Strong quantitative analytical abilities, statistical/econometric skills, proficient in macroeconomic analysis, and adept at systematic investment research. Expertise in R/Python, MS Office products, and market data services (e.g., Refinitiv, Bloomberg, and/or Factset).

RESPONSIBILITIES

• This position is for Office of Research Strategy (ORS).
• Lead strategic analysis of global research funding landscapes, including philanthropic foundations, multilateral development institutions, bilateral development agencies, and international collaborative research programmes.
• Provide strategic guidance to ORS leadership on global research positioning and institutional priorities across foundations, multilateral organisations, and international research programmes.
• Build and maintain institutional intelligence on global funders, agenda-setting international research convenings, major international funding programmes, strategic research priorities, and emerging programme opportunities relevant to SMU's research capabilities
• Exercise institutional judgement in identifying research themes, clusters, and programme opportunities aligned with SMU2030 priorities.
• Lead programme and cluster scoping with Schools, Institutes, and selected local and international partners to identify fundable thematic opportunities.
• Lead senior-level engagement with international research funders, philanthropic foundations, and multilateral organisations to strengthen SMU's positioning within global research ecosystems.
• Identify and cultivate relationships with key international funding organisations and thought leaders to support the development of programme-scale research collaborations.
• Guide Schools and Institutes in shaping research agendas suitable for major programme funding opportunities.
• Provide strategic direction for programme development activities across ORS, ensuring alignment between global funding opportunities and institutional research priorities.
• Support the development of large programme-scale initiatives involving multiple investigators, research centres, and international partners.
• Work closely with the Assistant Director - Research Programme Development to ensure that emerging research initiatives are strategically aligned with international funding priorities.
• Contribute to the development of institutional strategy regarding global research engagement, emerging thematic priorities, and future research capability development.
• Monitor global developments in research funding, international policy priorities, and thematic research agendas that may influence future funding opportunities.
• Provide advisory input on strategic hiring directions and emerging interdisciplinary research priorities based on global foresighting and funding intelligence.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Master's degree or equivalent professional experience in public policy, international development, economics, social sciences, business, or related disciplines, with 12 to 15 years of relevant professional experience in research strategy, international programme development, research funding strategy, or global research partnerships.
• Prior experience working within or alongside international funding ecosystems including philanthropic foundations, multilateral development banks, bilateral development agencies, or international research programmes.
• Experience engaging senior stakeholders in international organisations, global foundations, universities, or research institutes will be highly advantageous.
• Deep understanding of global research and development funding ecosystems, including philanthropic foundations, multilateral development institutions, development finance organisations, and bilateral development agencies such as the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, Green Climate Fund, United Nations Development Programme, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development initiatives, United States Agency for International Development, and the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office.
• Strong familiarity with international research funding mechanisms including Horizon Europe, collaborative research programmes, consortium funding initiatives, foundation-supported research programmes, and multilateral research partnerships.
• Demonstrated experience shaping programme-scale initiatives or research agendas aligned with major international funding opportunities.
• Ability to translate global funding intelligence into institutional research strategies and programme opportunities.
• Experience engaging senior stakeholders across universities, international organisations, government agencies, and philanthropic foundations.
• Strong capability in identifying emerging thematic research areas and aligning institutional research strengths with international funding priorities.
• Experience working on multi-institutional or multi-country research initiatives involving universities, research institutes, and international partners.
• Excellent strategic analysis and written communication skills, particularly in preparing strategic briefs, concept notes, programme strategies, and institutional positioning materials.
• Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to represent institutional research interests in international forums and partnerships.
• Experience working within or closely with international development organisations, multilateral institutions, global foundations, or international research programmes will be highly advantageous.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Drive new business development by identifying and securing project cargo and freight forwarding opportunities
• Develop relationships with EPC contractors, oil & gas companies, renewable energy firms, shipyards, and industrial clients
• Promote and sell project logistics solutions including heavy lift, breakbulk, OOG cargo, multimodal transport, warehousing, customs clearance, and port operations
• Prepare commercial proposals, RFQs, quotations, and tender submissions
• Conduct client meetings, presentations, and commercial negotiations
• Coordinate closely with operations, chartering, transport teams, and overseas agents for smooth project execution
• Identify new market opportunities across oil & gas, offshore, marine, infrastructure, and industrial sectors
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity, freight rates, and industry developments
• Maintain strong relationships with carriers, subcontractors, transport vendors, and logistics partners
• Achieve and exceed sales targets, profitability goals, and business development KPIs
• Maintain accurate CRM records, sales pipelines, customer reports, and revenue forecasts

Requirements

• Minimum 5–10 years of experience in business development, commercial sales, or key account management within project logistics or freight forwarding or sea freight.
• Strong understanding of project cargo operations, international freight forwarding, and multimodal transportation
• Experience handling heavy lift, breakbulk, oversized, or out-of-gauge (OOG) cargo shipments is preferred
• Good knowledge of shipping operations, customs procedures, Incoterms, and transport coordination
• Existing network within oil & gas, offshore, EPC, marine, infrastructure, or renewable energy sectors is advantageous
• Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to engage senior decision-makers and manage complex commercial discussions
• Self-driven, commercially focused, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong coordination and problem-solving abilities with the capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and commercial reporting tools

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the Manager and customer representative Manager on new customer requirements.
• Work closely with IT PIC for all Apps issues reported by drivers.
• Check the daily reports for Milestone, POD uploading, External Calendar, AGS report.
• Assist and work closely with both Fleet Supervisor and Safety supervisor on day-to-day operations.
• Check and go thru all drivers OT's submissions provided by respective planners every 19th of each month.
• Prepare a summary report of the driver OT for HR submission.
• Assist the manager with leave application and approval when the manager on leave / MC.
• Support Escalations matters to IT for any App and Portal issues.
• Maintain the planning sheet for any new changes via the excel file.
• Maintain the drivers and fleets records in the BHS System
• Maintain and follow up with all POD (Hardcopy) request by Customer.
