The Automation & Control Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and deployment of control solutions for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). Working within a multi-disciplinary engineering team under the guidance and support of Automation Team Lead, this role spans the full project lifecycle from establishing control philosophies and system architectures to on-site commissioning and end-user handover. The nature of this work requires a candidate who is technically grounded, highly adaptable, and able to operate effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where requirements and technologies evolve continuously.

Job descriptions:

• Collaborate with the engineering and project team to design and deploy BESS solutions that fulfil the technical requirements of each project.
• Develop control philosophies, system architectures, and technical specifications tailored to each project’s scope and constraints.
• Develop PLC and SCADA programs across multiple concurrent projects, ensuring that all code is modular, scalable, and well-documented for long-term maintainability.
• Configure and troubleshoot system communications across a range of industrial protocols like Modbus and CAN.
• Liaise with vendors to ensure seamless integration of third-party systems into the overall control architecture.
• Carry out on-site commissioning, functional testing and formal handover of completed systems to the end user, including troubleshooting activities.
• Maintain thorough and up-to-date project documentation throughout all phases.
• Provide technical input to support the sales and business development team in evaluating project feasibility and capability alignment.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by superiors.

Job requirements:

• Preferably a Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Power Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in automation, control systems, or related engineering field.
• Demonstrated experience in PLC programming (text-based) is required.
• Prior exposure to BESS, renewable energy, or grid-connected systems is an advantage.
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols, including Modbus (TCP/RTU), CAN, IEC61850. Exposure to additional protocols is advantageous; and willingness to learn new ones as required is essential.
• Ability to work across different hardware and software platforms as project requirements dictate, without reliance on a single ecosystem.
• Adaptable and composed when project requirements, tools, or methods change mid-execution.
• Demonstrates a systematic approach to problem-solving, with organised thinking, structured execution and thorough documentation.
• Tests and validates progressively at each stage.
• Proficient in spoken and written Chinese, as the role requires reviewing technical documents and communicating with Chinese-speaking clients, suppliers, and stakeholders

• Manage end-to-end equipment lifecycle processes, from design specifications to operational readiness
• Ensure pharmaceutical and biologics manufacturing facilities and utilities meet strict cGMP regulations.
• Protocol Execution: Generating and executing C&Q protocols (FAT/SAT, IQ, OQ, VMP) for process systems, utilities, and lab equipment.
• Compliance & Validation: Ensuring systems meet cGMP and regulatory authority requirements.
• Troubleshooting: Investigating deviations and executing root-cause analyses for malfunctioning manufacturing systems (Delta V).
• Contractor Management: Supervising and guiding external vendors, contractors, and junior engineering staff.

Requirements:

• Min. Degree in any relevant science field
• Possess prior working experience in biotechnology or project engineering, preferrably from a bio-pharma environment.
• Familiar with DeltaV operations

Job Description
The Senior Engineer, Process Development & Sustaining will lead the development, optimization, and sustaining of manufacturing processes for WD's HDD storage products. This is a technically deep, cross-functional role requiring strong foundation in chemistry, materials science, or chemical engineering.

You will drive process characterization, chemical/material qualification, and yield improvement initiatives while ensuring manufacturing processes remain stable, compliant, and cost-competitive. You are expected to operate with high technical autonomy, interface with global R&D and process teams, and mentor junior engineers on the Penang floor.

This role is ideal for a Master's, or Bachelor's graduate in Chemical Engineering or Materials Science who is passionate about translating lab-scale science into high-volume manufacturing solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Process Development

• Design and develop new manufacturing processes or significantly improve existing ones for HDD production
• Conduct Design of Experiments (DOE) to characterize process windows, identify critical process parameters (CPPs), and optimize process outputs
• Evaluate and qualify new chemicals, materials, and process consumables for manufacturing use
• Develop process recipes, control plans, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Translate R&D/lab-scale processes into robust, scalable, high-volume manufacturing processes

Process Sustaining

• Own sustaining engineering for assigned process modules — ensure processes remain stable, in control, and within specification
• Monitor Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts; respond to out-of-control signals with structured problem-solving
• Lead Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for process changes, chemical substitutions, and material updates
• Manage process deviation requests and ensure timely resolution
• Maintain process documentation, control plans, and work instructions per WD QMS

Chemical & Material Engineering

• Lead chemical/material qualification activities including incoming material testing, process compatibility studies, and shelf-life evaluations
• Evaluate alternative chemistries and materials for cost reduction, sustainability, or supply chain risk mitigation
• Work with EHS team to ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of process chemicals per regulatory requirements
• Support RoHS, REACH, and PFAS compliance reviews for process chemicals and materials

Yield & Quality Improvement

• Lead yield loss analysis and drive structured RCCA (Root Cause and Corrective Action) for process-related defects
• Apply Six Sigma / SPC / Lean methodologies to reduce process variation and improve Cpk
• Partner with Quality Engineering to resolve customer escapes and field returns linked to process issues
• Drive continuous improvement projects with measurable cost and quality impact

NPI & Technology Transfer

• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) process readiness — from process concept to mass production release
• Lead or support technology transfer of new processes from R&D/HQ to Penang manufacturing
• Develop process qualification protocols (PQ), installation qualification (IQ), and operational qualification (OQ) plans

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Interface with R&D, Product Engineering, Quality, EHS, Supply Chain, and Equipment Engineering teams globally
• Present process data, findings, and recommendations to senior management and global stakeholders
• Collaborate with equipment engineers on process-equipment interactions and optimization

People & Mentorship

• Mentor and coach junior and mid-level process engineers
• Lead technical reviews, knowledge-sharing sessions, and engineering forums
• Support capability building within the Penang process engineering team

Position title : Senior TCB Application & Technical Sales Engineer

Location: Admirax St

Working Days:  5 Day A Week

Working hours : 9:00am - 6:00pm

Responsibilities:

• Engage semiconductor customers to understand packaging roadmap, process requirements, throughput targets, yield and reliability challenges.

• Support technical sales activities and customer discussions.

• Hands-on experience in TCB, Flip Chip and Advanced Packaging.

• Experience in HBM / CoWoS / 2.5D / 3D packaging.

• Experience in OSAT, IDM or semiconductor equipment environments preferred.

• Experience with fluxless or N2 bonding environment is an advantage.

• Strong understanding of Thermo Compression Bonding (TCB), Flip Chip processes, thermal management, warpage control, alignment systems, vision systems, process qualification, SPC and yield analysis.

• Experience with DOE, statistical analysis tools, failure analysis workflows and semiconductor process characterization.
