Responsibilities

1. Developing and implementing mechanical designs and welding procedures for new products or product improvements.

• Complete daily hand on maintenance tasks and perform checks to ensure all tasks assigned by Engineers or Supervisors are completed according to the required services and safety standards adhering to SUBSAFE procedures and requirements.
• Perform hands on work in carrying out troubleshooting and rectification of mechanical or marine diesel defects through removal, service, installation and conduct system tightness test.
• Perform joint inspection and acceptance with ship representative and coordinate with ship crews to perform function test of ship systems.
• Carry out replenishment of Submarines supplies such as topping up of gases, fuel oil, lubricating oil and hydraulic oil.
• Coach, supervise and guide a team of junior technicians to carry out the planned and corrective maintenance onboard the Submarines.
• Perform logistical support such as lifting of equipment and components and maintenance of workshop tool and equipment.
• Adhere to strict safety protocols and procedures such as Permit to Work (PTW) system to ensure the safety of oneself and others onboard the submarine.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the management

Requirements:

• Preferably with at least 3 years of relevant working experience
• Possess positive attitude and willingness to learn and improve
• Able to use mechanical IMTE such as Torque Wrench, pressure gauges, internal, external micrometer and vernier caliper
• Able to use mechanical tools and equipment such as spanner, ratchet wrench, lever block and chain block (chain hoist)
• Able to read and depict technical documents such as 2D assembly drawing and schematic diagram
• Ability to work under pressure and work as a team
• Able to perform hands on work and overtime
• Perform demanding tasks in tight and confined spaces, shipyard and outdoor environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel

Job Descriptions:

• Manage emergency/ unscheduled repairs of production equipment. Provide redesign and improvements to equipment

• Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and ensure action follow-up to prevent recurrence of breakdowns.

• Lead repairs, improvement project implementation and liaise with vendors / contractors on scope of work.

• Lead Root Cause Analyses (RCA), conduct investigation, create solutions and take full ownership of the report, including coordinating/ follow-up investigation with team member.

Job Requirements:

• Diploma/ Degree in mechanical Engineering or any relevant trade certificate.

• Minimum 05 years of experience in a process plant with maintenance experience.

About the job 

Based at the Mandarin Oriental, Singapore, the Senior M&E Technician is responsible for the daily preventive maintenance of all plant and equipment within the property. The role includes carrying out repair and troubleshooting work on mechanical and electrical systems and equipment. The Senior M&E Technician supervises and guides other technicians during their respective shifts to ensure maintenance tasks are completed safely and efficiently. 

The position also requires performing standby duties in the control room and responding promptly to maintenance calls from various departments. During the midnight shift, the Senior M&E Technician assumes responsibility for all engineering activities on site, ensuring smooth operations in the absence of other senior engineering staff. The Senior M&E Technician reports to the Duty Engineer. 

As Senior M&E Technician, you will be responsible for the following duties:  

• Responsible for the maintenance and operation of: 

• HVAC System 

• Electrical installations 

• Central refrigeration and condensing units 

• Plumbing System 

• Fire Protection System 

• Kitchen equipment and all other M&E related equipment 

• In the absence of Duty Engineer, he/she is responsible for the assignment of job/task to shift technician and ensures that such completed work conforms with the standard so established by the Hotel. 

• Collects approved work order sheet from Duty Engineer and ensures that the work/task as described in the work order is carried out expeditiously, accurately, skilfully and economically. 

• On completion of the work/task, he/she completes the work order form by providing information regarding date/time, material used etc. as provided in the form. 

• Records all plants/equipment and utilities logging accurately. 

• Ensures that all plants/equipment are operated properly in accordance to the manufacturer’s specifications and as economically as possible. 

• Receives instructions from the Duty Engineer on job priorities and attends to guest on engineering complaints as so directed by the Duty Engineer. 

• Maintains and cleans his work area at all times. 

• Conducts and performs Planned Preventive Maintenance in accordance to pre-established PPM schedule. 

• Conducts regular testing of emergency stand-by generator in accordance to establish schedule. 

• Report to the Duty Engineer of stock situation in the reserve stock cabinet. 

• Notify the Duty Engineer of any irregularities to plant and equipment or abuse of engineering equipment by other Hotel staff 

• Whilst on night shift/evening shift, he inspects all public areas and reports/replace burnt out light bulbs.
