Role Overview

As an AI Engineer focused on Generative and Agentic AI, you will design, build, deploy, and operate production-ready AI systems, taking ideas from early prototypes through to reliable, enterprise-grade solutions. You will work hands-on with real customer and internal use cases, owning the full lifecycle from design and orchestration to deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.

The role emphasizes building intelligent systems that can reason, plan, use tools, and make decisions, rather than standalone models or simple chatbots. You will apply modern Generative AI techniques and strong software engineering practices to deliver real-world AI outcomes on a scale.

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join Version 1’s Data & AI Practice, working on modern data platforms for enterprise and regulated clients. You will be a hands‑on engineer with strong production experience, contributing to the design, build, and operation of scalable, cloud‑native data solutions that enable analytics and AI at scale.

This is a delivery‑focused role for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex data challenges, takes ownership of outcomes, and applies strong engineering discipline in real‑world environments.

What You’ll Be Doing

• · Designing, building, and operating reliable data pipelines using modern ETL/ELT approaches
• · Engineering cloud‑native data platforms, primarily on AWS (with Azure exposure where required)
• · Working with technologies such as Databricks, PostgreSQL, Aurora, and distributed processing frameworks
• · Ensuring solutions are production‑ready: secure, tested, observable, and cost‑efficient
• · Optimising data performance, reliability, and data quality in live environments
• · Collaborating with analysts, data scientists, AI engineers, and platform teams
• · Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to shared standards and accelerators

Key Responsibilities

• Look for 7-10 years of experience in Devops and AWS.
• Design, build, and maintain cloud-native applications using AWS serverless services (e.g., Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, SQS, Cognito, CloudWatch).
• Manage and operate AI/ML Platform on AWS
• Develop infrastructure as code using AWS CDK or similar tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Able to build front/back-end solutions
• Contribute to event-driven and microservices architectures.

We are seeking a Senior AI Product & Research Engineer (Consultant) to help design, prototype, and scale enterprise-grade AI products. This role combines deep technical AI expertise with strong product intuition and hands-on experience leveraging modern AI development tools and coding agents.

You will work closely with leadership, engineering, and research teams to translate ambitious AI concepts into deployable, secure, and scalable production systems.

What You Will Do:

• · Translate business and research objectives into scalable AI product architectures.
• · Rapidly prototype AI-driven applications using modern AI coding agents and developer copilots.
• · Design and implement enterprise-grade AI systems across model development, evaluation, and deployment.
