This role will lead technical strategy, ensure system robustness, and drive end-to-end engineering excellence—from early design stages through integration, testing, commissioning, and final system delivery. You will serve as the key technical decision-maker, ensuring alignment with industry standards while supporting smooth project execution.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Oversight & Direction

• Provide overall technical direction for SCADA and control system solutions within rail projects.
• Serve as the main subject matter expert for SCADA and PLC systems, ensuring designs meet safety, regulatory, and project-specific requirements.
• Review and endorse key engineering outputs, including system designs, interface definitions, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Establish and maintain engineering standards, design guidelines, and quality control practices across the project lifecycle.

Engineering Execution & Integration

• Oversee the full implementation of SCADA and PLC systems, from initial design through development, integration, and commissioning.
• Coordinate system interfaces across various railway subsystems such as signaling, power distribution, and operations control environments.
• Guide hardware and software integration activities to ensure seamless system performance.
• Lead and monitor testing phases, including factory and on-site validation activities, ensuring readiness for deployment.
• Ensure proper control of system changes, including software updates, configuration management, and hardware modifications.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Act as the primary technical interface for clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
• Facilitate technical discussions, design reviews, and resolution of complex engineering issues.
• Contribute technical insights to project planning, risk assessments, and execution strategies.
• Prepare and validate technical documentation, reports, and presentations for stakeholders and authorities.

Team Leadership & Development

• Lead and mentor engineering teams, providing technical guidance and oversight throughout project execution.
• Plan and allocate engineering resources effectively to meet project milestones and delivery targets.
• Encourage knowledge sharing, capability building, and continuous improvement within the team.

Risk, Issues & System Reliability

• Take the lead in resolving complex technical challenges through structured troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Identify potential risks early and implement mitigation measures to safeguard project timelines and system performance.
• Support post-deployment activities, including system stabilization, defect resolution, and maintenance when required.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical, Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Around 8–12 years of experience in SCADA/PLC engineering, ideally within rail, metro, or other critical infrastructure projects.
• Prior experience in a technical leadership capacity (e.g. lead engineer, technical manager) on complex system implementations.
• Strong understanding of SCADA architectures, PLC systems, and multi-system integration in high-reliability environments.
• Hands-on familiarity with PLC programming and safety-critical system requirements.
• Experience working with platforms such as Siemens and Schneider.
• Able to interpret complex engineering documentation including schematics, system designs, and specifications.
• Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to manage diverse stakeholders.
• Comfortable operating in fast-paced, high-pressure project environments.

We're looking for a Technical Program Manager (internally known as Technical Delivery Product Manager) — someone who sits at the intersection of engineering and delivery, and who gets a genuine kick out of making complex technical programs happen, and delivering sophisticated technical products.

This role requires someone who understands ML and AI systems at a fundamental level, with proven experience delivering complex API-based products.

What You'll Be Doing

Delivery Ownership

• Take full ownership of on-time, in-scope delivery outcomes across your area of responsibility
• Proactively manage programs of work, identify risks and dependencies early, and keep commitments on track
• Be the Product Owner for your development team — write clear user stories, run sprint ceremonies, and keep things moving

• Work closely with Product Managers and technical leads to translate product requirements into clear, actionable technical requirements
• Ask the right questions — a lot of them — before committing to a direction
• Synthesise competing priorities and inputs into practical delivery decisions grounded in data
