EOS Innovation Singapore is seeking software engineers across a range of experience levels to support the development of advanced defence products. These are hands-on engineering roles embedded within multidisciplinary teams of mechanical, electronic, optical and systems engineers. The work combines software development with real hardware integration, experimental subsystems and evolving product requirements, and will suit engineers who enjoy solving practical problems, working close to prototypes and equipment, and turning emerging capability into robust, production-ready software.

Primary Duties

This role contributes to the design, development, integration, verification and support of software used in complex defence systems. Engineers in this position will work across activities such as equipment interfacing, control and automation, algorithm implementation, user interfaces, test support and system integration. More experienced candidates will be expected to provide technical leadership, guide software design decisions, mentor less experienced engineers and help shape robust engineering practices. Earlier-career candidates will be expected to contribute strongly to hands-on development, integration and problem-solving, while growing into increased technical ownership over time.

Responsibilities

·       Design, develop, test, integrate and maintain software for advanced defence products, ranging from equipment interfacing and control functions to data processing, automation and user-facing applications.

·      Work closely with multi disciplinary engineering teams to integrate software with prototypes, experimental hardware, embedded devices and evolving system designs.

·      Translate engineering requirements into practical software designs and contribute to verification and validation activities to demonstrate performance, safety and compliance.

·      Investigate and resolve technical issues encountered during development, integration, test and production support, including unexpected behaviours at system and equipment level.

·      Produce and maintain clear technical documentation, including design descriptions, interface definitions, test procedures, test records and manufacturing support material.

·      Apply sound software engineering practices, including version control, code review, debugging, testing and configuration management.

·      For more experienced candidates, lead software design activities, contribute to architecture decisions, support design reviews and provide technical guidance to other engineers.

·      Engage with internal stakeholders and customers to clarify requirements, communicate technical progress and support engineering decisions throughout the product lifecycle.

Education and Experience

·       Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.

·      We welcome candidates across a range of experience levels, from early-career engineers with strong technical foundations to senior engineers with substantial experience delivering software for engineered products or integrated systems.

·      Experience with software development tools and practices, including source control, development environments, compilers, debugging and test tools.

·      Experience in one or more relevant technical areas such as C, C++, Python, embedded or Linux-based development, hardware interfacing, network communications, web-based interfaces, JSON or automated test is desirable.

·      Experience taking software from concept through prototyping, integration, verification and release is advantageous; for senior candidates, this is expected.

·      Experience working in defence, safety-critical, regulated or other high-integrity engineering environments is beneficial.

Job Responsibilities:

• Analyze SPC charts using SPACE. Know all the PR rules and their significance. Do proper annotation to maintain quality troubleshooting rate for SPC OOC. Understand Cp and Cpk indices.
• Analyze split lot, DOE data, ET, sort yield using JMP, Klarity ACE.
• Create SPC charts, DCOP and modify SLDB using PROMIS (Si-View).
• Upload recipe, check recipe and ensure recipe content compliance using RMS.
• Follow up on SPSR, MRB, 8D, TECN, or spec update with ECN. Provide guidance to junior Engineers.
• Setup and troubleshoot issues in recipes/ job files in all metrology tools within the Module.
• Analyze data from passed down to identify chronic process issues, establish improvement programs and lead engineers to resolve them. Establish CAS / procedures to be followed and work with other departments for resolution if required.
• Work as a team with both Equipment and Manufacturing Engineers to meet Module objectives. Drive team to meet key indices of Uptime and OEE as per the goals set for these indices.
• Take on leadership roles to drive a small cross functional task team to address yield improvement/ excursion issues.
• Facilitate/ initiate CIP programs to optimize process window, cost, yield, and productivity. Establish plans and strategies to optimize process capability to meet operational requirements.
• Resolve complex technical issues in own Module or yield related issues
• Follow up with cross-fab benchmarking activities to engage the best-in-campus practices across fabs.
• Self audit and update specifications / documentation to meet TS16949 Quality Standard requirements.

What are we looking for?

We're looking for a detail-oriented Senior QA Automation Engineer to help us shape and strengthen our QA function. In this role, you'll be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated test suites that ensure our products meet a high bar for quality and reliability. You’ll work closely with both engineering and product teams to identify automation opportunities, define test plans, and integrate tests into our CI/CD pipeline.

This is a full-time position reporting directly to the Tech Lead. This position would be based in KL Eco City, Kuala Lumpur.

Core Responsibilities:

• Design, create and maintain automated testing suites
• Write automated test with Cucumber BDD in Gherkin syntax that can be integrated with our CI/CD pipeline
• Contribute to test execution in containerized environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)

Partnering cross-functionally with Product, Security, and Compliance teams, you will translate complex regulatory demands into scalable technical roadmaps that safeguard thousands of businesses worldwide.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Roadmap:

• Technical Strategy: Define the long-term technical vision and architectural strategy for Airwallex’s Identity (IAM) and account infrastructure domains. Make high-level decisions and select technology stacks that support long-term scalability.

• Roadmap Planning: Partner closely with Product Managers and Engineering Directors to translate business goals into a concrete technical roadmap. Prioritize initiatives based on risk, commercial value, and engineering bandwidth.

• Cross-Functional Alignment: Act as the technical bridge between Engineering, Legal, Compliance, and Security teams to ensure our technical roadmap aligns with global regulatory changes.

Engineering & Architecture:

• System Design & Development: Design, develop, and maintain high-availability (HA) IAM products and account infrastructure using Java/Kotlin and cloud-native technologies.

• Security Engineering: Implement industry-standard security protocols (e.g., OAuth2, OIDC, SAML) to safeguard business data and ensure compliance with global financial regulations.

• Infrastructure Optimization: Architect and optimize scalable infrastructure solutions to support high transaction volumes and ensure system reliability.

• Code Quality & Excellence: Champion engineering excellence by conducting code reviews, writing automated tests, and establishing best practices for performance and security.

Team Leadership & Mentorship:

• Coaching & Development: Mentor junior and senior engineers through code reviews, design docs, and career guidance. Foster a culture of engineering excellence and ownership within the team.

• Best Practices: Establish and enforce standards for code quality, security, and system reliability. Drive technical initiatives that improve developer velocity and system observability.

Who you are

We’re looking for people who meet the minimum qualifications for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.

Minimum qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

• Experience: 6 years of professional experience in software engineering, with a focus on backend development

• Technical Proficiency:

  • Strong proficiency in modern programming languages such as Java, Kotlin, Go, or Python.

  • Deep understanding of Identity and Access Management (IAM) concepts (Authentication, Authorization, SSO, MFA).

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Solid knowledge of relational and non-relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Cassandra, Redis).

• Leadership: Demonstrated experience in mentoring engineers and leveling up team capabilities.

• Security Knowledge: Familiarity with application security best practices and secure coding standards (OWASP).

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in the Fintech, Banking, or Payments industry.

• Experience with data governance tools or privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs).

• Experience working in a high-growth startup or unicorn environment.

Airwallex Risk Platform Team is responsible for protecting all Airwallex products across the lifecycle, including GTPN, PA, Issuing, Onboarding, and Account Takeover. The risk landscape evolves rapidly and fraud techniques are becoming increasingly sophisticated. We build scalable, reliable, and intelligent risk capabilities to stay ahead—helping Airwallex remain a trusted global partner for businesses.

Our team is distributed across Shanghai and Singapore, working closely with global product, engineering, data, and operations teams, as well as external partners and customers, to deliver a holistic risk management approach.

This role is based in Singapore.

What you’ll do

Our mission is to keep Airwallex’s products and services safe and secure. We continuously improve risk strategies and systems using modern technologies, including graph, machine learning, and LLMs/Gen AI, to detect and prevent fraud and abuse at scale.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and operate core transaction risk services and infrastructure using Kotlin/Java, supporting payment products and transaction systems.

• Own end-to-end delivery of key components and services on Airwallex’s microservice framework: design, implementation, testing, deployment, and observability.

• Build high-concurrency, highly available distributed services, optimizing latency, throughput, and reliability for production workloads.

• Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional partners to define technical solutions, APIs, and service boundaries; drive architectural improvements.

• Explore and evaluate new technologies (e.g., graph/streaming/ML/LLM related) and propose pragmatic upgrades aligned with business risk needs.

• Mentor engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and engineering best practices, improving team quality and delivery efficiency.

• Participate in on-call/incident response when needed, driving root-cause analysis and long-term remediation.

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in Java/Kotlin backend development, with proven delivery in internet-scale applications, large financial systems, or e-commerce platforms.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related fields (or equivalent practical experience).

• Strong knowledge of Java ecosystem, including concurrency/multithreading, high-throughput IO (NIO), and network communication fundamentals.

• Solid foundation in distributed systems design: high concurrency, high load, high availability, resilience, and scalability.

• Strong engineering practices: performance tuning, service stability, data/query optimization, and production troubleshooting.

• Experience with Spring / Spring Boot and designing RESTful APIs.

• Familiarity with build tools such as Gradle/Maven.

• Familiarity with common data formats such as JSON (XML is a plus, not a must).

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

• Strong domain knowledge in risk management, fraud detection, and fintech payment risk strategies.

• Experience with graph databases and graph-based pattern/anomaly detection.

• Experience applying machine learning for predictive risk analytics (model integration, feature engineering collaboration, etc.).

• Experience with real-time streaming and event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka, Flink) for low-latency detection and response.

• Experience with large-scale analytics and storage technologies (e.g., ClickHouse, Spark, NoSQL) for risk analysis and investigations.

• Incident response experience, including mitigation planning and post-incident improvement.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills in a cross-regional, cross-functional environment.

• Familiarity with LLM evaluation and safety practices (offline/online evals, red teaming, prompt injection defenses, PII handling, and guardrails) for enterprise use cases.
