Job Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using Java and related technologies
• Build RESTful APIs and microservices to support web and mobile applications
• Participate in system architecture, design discussions, and code reviews
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability
• Integrate with databases, third-party systems, and messaging platforms
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following best practices
• Perform unit testing, integration testing, and support UAT/production releases
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues
• Collaborate with frontend developers, DevOps engineers, QA, and business stakeholders
  

Qualification & Experience

• Bachelors' degree in Information Technology or equivalent.
• Min 3 years in Java based development with relevant architecture and design principles knowledge.
• Experience with messaging tools like IBM MQ / Kafka is a plus.
• Prior experience in financial or public sector industry is a plus.
• Experience building backend systems using object-oriented design principles.
• Experience with RESTful API development.

- Understand the processes, flows, functional and non-functional requirements of the system

- Involve in system, sub-system, interface and database design

- Responsible for coding and unit testing of functional modules of the system

- Responsible for providing technical support and bug fixes during system integration testing, user acceptance testing, performance testing and penetration testing

- Assist in documentation of the system

- Responsible for providing maintenance support and bug fixes post system implementation

Requirements:

- Degree/Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent

- At least 3 years of experience in Java EE application development esp Springboot & ReactJS

- Good understanding of Java EE architecture, Java Design Patterns and Object Oriented Programming

- Good understand in Spring/Hibernate/ORM/JMS or other framework

- Experience in HTML, JavaScript framework such as ReactJS, CSS

- Experience in Web Services like RESTful APIs/JSON, SOAP/XML

- Experience in MySQL RDBMS

- Experience in setting up Springboot application

- Experience in source code versioning system like GIT, SVN, TFS, etc.

- Experience in incident/bug reporting and tracking system like Remedy, Jira, etc.

- Experience in Sonarcube, Jenkins CICD is a plus

- Experience in Openshift and AWS services is a plus

- Strong problem solving skills, able to determine the programming effects on applications

- Good interpersonal and strong verbal and written communication skills

- Able to work independently with less supervision

Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of Java developers to deliver development and maintenance projects effectively
• Analyze project requirements to assess impacts and guide architectural implementation within project scope
• Design and develop customized, reusable software solutions for projects, programs, or operational needs
• Set up and configure development environments to support efficient coding and testing activities
• Develop detailed, high-quality software designs aligned with project objectives
• Conduct unit testing using automated frameworks to identify risks and implement mitigation plans
• Investigate and troubleshoot technical issues to provide timely resolutions
• Configure software components and assess technical impacts across multiple technologies and strategies
• Review code and provide constructive feedback to developers to maintain quality standards
• Apply coding standards and best practices to ensure software quality and maintainability
• Collaborate as a team member on operational, integration, or application architecture requirements and ongoing operations deliverables

Required competencies and certifications

• Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Java/J2EE technologies
• Minimum 5 years of coding experience in J2EE, Java, PL/SQL, REST API, and microservices
• Experience leading a team of Java or software developers
• Must have Hands-on experience with Java Struts, Spring, and Hibernate enterprise frameworks
• Experience with version control systems such as SVN (Subversion) and GIT

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Experience with build automation tools such as Jenkins, ANT, Maven, or Gradle
• Advanced understanding of modern software development methodologies (Object-Oriented Programming)
• Advanced knowledge of software testing methodologies, scripting, and tools
• Familiarity with RDBMS databases including Oracle, Oracle Golden Gate, Data Lake, DB2, MS SQL, MySQL, and RDS
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
